Sorry for not updating for a while- I didn't have enough ideas!! I'll try think of more ideas so I can update more often :) Because I haven't written in a few days, I'll give you an extra long chapter now ;)

(Also idk if I'm spelling Giyu's name right, on Google it's Giyu but lots of other people spell it Giyuu. I'm just gonna spell it as Giyu)

In this au they have been dating for a while

Giyu POV:
I just got back from a mission, and boy was I hungry. I ignored my rumbling stomach and went off to find Sanemi. I found him, sitting on a bench, holding what looked like a box? I went over to him and sat down, and I could now see it was a box of chocolates. I leaned my head on Sanemi's shoulder and closed my eyes, still tired from the mission. "Oh, hi Giyu. How did the mission go?" I shrugged in reply, it went fine really, but I didn't really feel like speaking.

I've had selective mutism for a while now, ever since I was a kid, and yet I still haven't "grown out of it". The only people I talk to are the other Hashira's and Tanjiro, and even when I talk to them I barley say anything. Just a few words here and there. As far as I know, everyone understands my situation, and they dont try to pry, however they do try to make me talk more often. Such as by asking me questions that I can't just nod in reply to, like "how did the mission go?".

Sanemi nodded in understanding when I didn't say anything. Sanemi was the person I spoke to the most, sometimes I would speak him for hours on end, and only afterwards would I realised that isn't usual for me. Sanemi handed me a chocolate from the box (the second to last one), and I popped it in my mouth. It was good, I'll give you that, and since I was hungry from the mission it tasted extra good. "Mm" I hummed, and Sanemi giggled at my reaction. "Let's go back inside, see what the other Hashira's are up to" I nodded at him and clung onto his arm as he stood up and directed me to the lounging area.

As far as I could see, all the Hashira's were in the lounging area. I'll admit, I'm not the best at crowds (and lots of people talking), so I sat down near, but not too close to the others.

"Good afternoon Giyu! How did your mission go?" Shinobu asked. Once again with the questions that required a verbal answer, ugh. I thought through what I was going to say and how to say it, which, with Sanemi's help, I came to realise wasn't normal. "Good" I said simply. I could've gone on and on about everything I did, but I'll save that for later, when it's only me and Sanemi. "No details?" Shinobu said with a raised eyebrow. I shook my head slowly and Shinobu shrugged, there were some days where I would say a lot to the others, and on those days I thought I was getting better. But then these days where I could barley muster a word came around, and I realise I was no better at speaking -or any social interaction- than I was when I was a kid. I was quite possibly worse, to be honest.

I wonder if one day.. I'll ever be able to talk normally...
