The man twisted his mouth as he continued to study the young intruder, then he spoke in a mild tone.
"I see four options, Nicky. First one, turn you over to the cops - breaking into a man's house with clear intent to do him serious harm. Of course, that will be some hassle for me, interviews, statements, witness at a trial. Not keen."
"Second option, beat you up, cripple your hands and send you off with 'now go and be a good boy, Nicky'. Again, not really keen."
"Number three. A novel idea, see if I can make some use of you. Probably be more trouble than you're worth, but it does have a curious appeal."
"Lastly, kill you and dispose of your body. By far the easiest and cleanest for me."
"Which one should I choose, Nicky?"
"Who are you?" Nicky cried out anxiously.
The question was ignored and the scrutiny went on.
Then, "Which one should I choose, Nicky," was repeated.
"Oh please, please . . ." the young man whimpered hopelessly.
Another twist of the mouth, "Alright, let's give it a try. We can always abort."
What did that mean?
The man went out.
Nicky sat there gasping for breath, feeling numb. Should he scream for help, but . . . but the man would kill him long before help could come.
Oh God, oh God.
He leant back against the wall, more frightened than he had ever been in his life.
