It was a week after Izuku had been adopted. Everything had been going well during the day, but at night, his nightmares had been getting increasingly worse.
Bad enough that Aizawa or Mic have had to come and calm him down nightly for the past week. Tonight specifically, was the worst.
Izuku felt awful. He was tired, so were his new adoptive dads. Mentally he was struggling as well. He felt awful for making his incredibly generous and caring teachers help him so much. His grades were suffering. He couldn't focus much.
He'd lost so much motivation. He was triggered more easily. It's like his meds weren't helping as much anymore.
That night in particular, he woke up and immediately threw up. He heaved over his lap as his stomach contents came running out of his mouth, dripping down his chin. He sobbed, his body bobbed up and down, in a fashion that was almost animated. His cries were harsh.
This time, the first one there was Todoroki, his dorm neighbor.
He carefully opened the door, and closed it behind him as he walked over to Izuku, "hey hey, Izuku you're okay. It's Todoroki. You're okay."
Izuku shook his head, his hands tacky with vomit, grabbing his hair and pulling on it in clumps.
It was a pitiful sight. It was scary. Scary to see someone so truthfully distraught.
"I'm gonna turn the lamp on, okay?" Todoroki said, making sure Izuku knew what he was going to do next.
Once the light was on, Todoroki realized that Izuku was sitting in his own sick, he had puke down the front of himself.
Todoroki paused. He wasn't good with puke. Izuku gagged again, he let one of his hands loose and put it to his mouth. The smell was sour and unforgiving. He gagged into his hand.
Izuku tried to get himself to the bathroom, Todoroki helped him.
Izuku bent over in front of the toilet, sobbing uncontrollably, muttering some incoherent nonsense about fire and texts and burns.
Before Todoroki could make any sense out of it, Izuku threw up. Todoroki's heart was pounding in his chest, his hands were shaking, but he reached out and rubbed Izuku's back anyways.
"Hey, you're okay. You're at UA. You are safe." Todoroki had nightmares as bad as this before. Not anymore, but he did what he always needed when he had them.
"Hey, Izuku, breath. You have to breath." Todoroki said calmly, though his mind was racing. He wanted to help.
"I can't I can't- he's he-" Izuku sobbed, "I don't wanna feel this anymore." He clutched his stomach, "it feels the same." He sobbed, his controlled posture melting slightly as his hands found their way back to his knotted hair.
"Izuku you have to breath." Todoroki said as Izuku sank into hysterics. He had never seen someone so vulnerable and devastated.
Then Aizawa and Mic walked in. Mic pulled Todoroki out to the hallway and Aizawa stayed with Izuku.
"Kid you gotta breath. You're safe here." Aizawa coaxed. Izuku let out a sob, "feels like him. Feels the same."
"I know bud, I know, this will pass but you need to breath. In for 4, out for 4, remember the box. Imagine the box." Aizawa kept talking, Izuku liked to listen.
After a couple more minutes, Aizawa had the situation under control and directed Izuku to take a shower.
Then he went out to Todoroki, who was being hugged by Mic in the hallway. Aizawa could see him shaking.
