Before going to my classes, I needed to meet with my academic advisor to go over a few things for my degree. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be accepted into their honor college, but it meant I was gonna have to do even more work. One of which includes completing a thesis project. Usually, this would be completed for your senior year, but it wouldn't hurt to get a head start on things.
Making my way to the academic building, I waited until my name was called for my appointment.
"Miss Harmon, they're ready for you now."
Getting up, I went into the office on the left and sat down.
"And you must be Miss Harmon, it is nice to meet you. I will be your academic advisor for the rest of your college career. My name is Ms. Zoe." Shaking her hand, I smiled back at her taking in her appearance. Her brown hair was up into a ponytail, with strands of it coming out at the sides. She altered the glasses on her face as she begin to pull up my academic records.
"Okay, it says here you're majoring in Biology. That was actually my major when I was in college, but that was years ago, oh lord." She started to ramble about her days when she was a college student at my age. Smiling awkwardly, I listened to her story waiting for her to start talking about my credits.
"Now where were we. So you need 120 credits to graduate and you transferred over with 82. You are in perfect standing to graduate during the time you are expected to. As for your acceptance into the honor college, it says you need to complete your thesis. So since you are currently a biology major, you will need to come up with your own experiment, it can be anything you want but you do have the follow the guidelines. You will also need to work with a professor so that this lab experiment is supervised." She flipped through papers, looking back and forth between them and her computer screen. After a while, she started to type.
"Alright dear, I found the professor you will be working with and you actually have a class with them in the next 20 minutes. You can let them know that you'll be working together on your thesis there." She smiled as I got out of the chair and thanked her before going to my next class.
Looking at the map on my phone, I looked up at the science building and walked inside to go to my class. Upon entering the classroom, I quickly noticed that it was a lecture hall. There were probably 50 students already in the classroom. Walking up the stairs to the back I set next to some blonde-haired girl and behind a short black-haired girl.
Reaching into my bag, I pulled out my laptop and checked my schedule.
Professor Janis
Reading the name, I shrugged as I closed out my schedule. It didn't matter who the professor was, but I just hope she was nice. I can't handle working with someone who is gonna be a pain.
Looking over at the blonde girl sitting next to me, she keep eyeing me which was starting to make me a bit uncomfortable. "Is there something you need?" I asked causing her face to turn a light shade of pink.
"I wanted to say hello." She said shyly as she made eye contact with me. It was cute that she was that shy to say something to me.
"You don't have to be nervous, I'm Iyla, you?" I laughed as I asked for her name.
"Historia. It's nice to meet you Iyla." She responded as she sighed in relief, all the nerves slowly calming down.
"So I haven't seen you around before. I live 10 minutes from here so I mostly have seen people from high school or around town." She said as she started to make small talk.
"No, I live about three hours away from here." Thinking about how far I was away from Levi almost made me physically sick.
"Wow, that's pretty far. Well, don't worry, I lived here my whole life so if you need someone to show you around or give you some good recommendations for some fun places, I'm your girl." She laughed as she pointed to herself. Chuckling with her, I shook my head.
"Thanks. Actually, what do you know about this Professor Janis lady?" I asked.
"Oh, she's a nightmare. I had her last semester for chem and let's just say I was this close to dropping out." Putting her fingers closely together to demonstrate, I quickly rolled my eyes thinking about how annoying these two years we're gonna be if I had to work with her.
Before I could respond, the front door swung open as someone walked inside.
"Holy shit." The black-haired girl in front of me whispered to her friends.
"Historia?"
"Yeah?"
"Is that Professor Janis?" I asked confused.
"Nope, not at all. At least I think it's not." She said just as confused as I.
Walking to the desk, he placed his books on the table and started to write on the chalkboard.
"Hello, class, sorry for the late entrance. This is Bio 117 and I am your professor. You can call me Professor Jaeger." He said as he wrote his name on the board and leaned against it. His hair was long, with the top half being pulled into a messy bun. He wore a clean white buttoned-up shirt accompanied by navy blue slacks. His sleeves were rolled up slightly showing a hint of an arm tattoo.
"Let's get started, shall we?" He flashed a smile causing half of the girls in the room to adjust themselves.
Professor Jaeger...
I have to work on my thesis with Professor Jaeger.
