*Flashback*
Ava was finally out of the house. For the first time in months after leaving the Mint, she was seeing the outside again. She had buried herself inside the comfort of the house, not wanting to see the outside world at all. She'd been so heartbroken that she barely left her bed at all. She just found out she was pregnant a few months before. She had yet to have anything more than a tiny baby bump on her stomach.
She glanced back, hearing the front door open. Sergio walked out of the house. He brought her something to eat. She couldn't help but smile. "I brought you dinner." He spoke. He walked over to her, taking a seat next to her on the lounge chair. He held the plate of food out to her. Ava stared at it for a moment before she grabbed it from him, thanking him quietly. She appreciated everything he did for her, but she would be lying if she said she didn't feel like a burden to him. He'd been so good to her, but he was constantly giving her attention. She didn't want him to feel forced to. "You've been sitting out here all day." He pointed out. The sun had just fallen. She officially had been out from sunrise to sunset. She nodded her head and looked up at the stars that were shining brightly.
"Yeah," She responded. She looked back over at him. "I'll be ready to come in soon." She didn't want him to have to worry about her.
"I'll sit out here with you until you're ready." She almost knew he'd say something along those lines. They got comfortable on the lounge chairs and sat in silence for about thirty minutes. Sergio was the first to speak now and then, commenting something to make her giggle. He always knew just what to say. Ava leaned forward, hitting a button to turn on the radio that sat on a table beside them. Sergio stared at her, confused. She stood up from the lounge chair, swaying back and forth to the music that was playing. Sergio just watched her. She stopped in front of him, reaching a hand out for him to take. Sergio shook his head at her, pushing his glasses all the way up on his face.
"No, no." He rejected her offer. She kept her hand out, wanting him to take it. He looked up at her for a moment and then let his eyes wander to her hand. He sighed.
"Come on Professor," she begged him. He gave in. He took her hand as he stood up from the lounge chair and immediately spun her. In all of their life, they'd never gotten so close. Losing Andres was bringing them together in ways they'd never expected. Sergio awkwardly laughed when she spun a bit too quickly, landing in his arms kind of hard. This made her giggle as well. She rested in his arms for a second before she pulled away to dance on her own. Sergio stared at her for a bit too long before he started dancing too, but his dancing was a lot more awkward.

Ava stepped in front of the Professor, stopping in front of the front door. She knocked kind of hard, wanting to make sure to get an answer. Ava had changed over the past few years. Someone who used to be quiet and withdrawn was now mouthy and loud. She'd do what she needed to do to protect her family and that family included Rio. She'd go back into battle to protect any one of them.
The door was answered quickly which wasn't what the two of them were expecting. Martín Berrote stood there shocked, staring at the two of them. Ava had never met him, never heard of him, never knew he was so close to Andres before Sergio mentioned him. Andres had never once mentioned him to her. But Martín knew exactly who she was. Andres kept a small picture of her in his wallet, and he was constantly showing it off. He knew she was the love of Andres' life, and no other woman has ever measured up. He'd never measure up. Martin had the door cracked as if he was hiding something.
