*Flashback*
Ava took a seat right in the middle of Sergio and Andres. Andres' hand dropped to her thigh after he sat a glass of wine in front of her. Sergio watched them. His eyes wandered to her thigh, watching when Andres placed his hand directly on her. Ava offered Andres a smile. It was just a few weeks that they got the group back together and finally, Ava and Andres were in a comfortable place. Ava and Sergio, however, were still a bit awkward after their kiss. The awkwardness was noticeable to both of them, but nobody else could feel the tensity in the air when they were in the same room together. Ava noticed exactly where Sergio's eyes were, and her stomach started to twist. His eyes wandered, feeling hers on him and he finally looked at him. Ava was staring at him with confusion, but she averted her gaze. She had so many more questions than she had answers.
"Nairobi, leave the kids alone and come join the rest of us." Tokyo called out. She leaned back in her chair and peered over so that she could look at Nairobi. Nairobi was laying down on the ground in the dining room, playing toys with the two little ones. She had spent most of her time with the kids during the last few weeks. The group knew why, and every single one of them felt for Nairobi in their own way. They all knew of her losing her son but most of them didn't know the reason. It was hard for Nairobi to admit it because she knew they took him for a reason, even if she wished they hadn't.
"They're way more fun than you guys." Nairobi finally commented. She looked over at the group. Most of them were now looking at Nairobi with furrowed eyebrows.
"I agree." Ava agreed with her. Berlin removed his hand and placed it on Ava's back this time instead. He loved holding her publicly. He didn't want anyone to know that they were still rocky because he had hidden away from her. Monica and Raquel came over towards the table, placing the food down in front of the group. The women in the group had been spending a lot of time together.
"I'll just have to have your share then Nairobi," Tokyo chimed in again. Most the people at the table were already making their plates. Ava stood up from the table just as Nairobi got up from the ground.
"I got him." Nairobi said, her eyes going to Ava. Ava nodded her head.
"Thank you." She responded. Nairobi picked up little Andres and carried him over, placing him in the highchair beside of Cincinatti. Ava quickly made her son a small plate and held it out to Nairobi. Nairobi placed the food in front of the boy and then sat down at the table, right beside the highchairs.
"I'm going to grab more wine." Sergio commented after he saw the empty wine glass at the table. Really, he just needed an excuse to leave the room for a moment. He stood up from the table and most people went back to eating. Ava, however, had her eyes locked on him. Nairobi noticed this but she didn't say anything about it. She noticed more than once, the looks that they gave each other. She noticed the distance between Berlin and Ava as well.
"I'll be right back. I have to use the restroom." Ava spoke quietly when she turned to Berlin and he glanced at her. He didn't think about it for even a second. He just nodded and turned back to eat his food. Ava stood up from the table and walked out of the room. She went straight to the kitchen, knowing where Sergio was going to be. Sergio was grabbing a bottle of wine off the shelf when Ava walked into the room. He stopped what he was doing and turned to face her.
"Just grabbing wine." He awkwardly laughed and held the wine out as if he was showing her. He was trying to pretend like he wasn't openly avoiding her. Ava stayed quiet. She started walking towards him and stopped when she was right in front of him. His heart was racing as he stared at her. Sergio wasn't gifted socially with women. He could be awkward and weird at times, especially if something happened between the two of them. Ava and Sergio were so close before, but after she kissed him, it was nothing but awkward.
