CH 3 | Rea Man Zui

Rina Mei Zu (female lead) POV

I woke up bright and early the next day. Yanzi helped me bath and dress. She brought me the my favourite cakes for breakfast.

"They are from his Majesty" she giggled.

Hearing that made me even more eager to eat them. I hadn't seen him since yesterday.

"Bring me all the portraits of the female relatives of his Majesty"

I ordered politely. I still wanted to find out who his Majesty's cousin was, who the Empress Dowager so dearly adored.

"Yes" Yanzi answered.

She brought me several portraits. They all had their names and rank on them. A few of them even had their relation to his Majesty.

But none of them said 'cousin' on them.

I sighed and thought it would be better to give up.

Just then I recieved an invitation to see my Husband.

"Yanzi! Help me dress!"

I said excitedly.

"But you are dressed Madame."

I rolled my eyes.

"In my best dress!"

I answered.

She helped me dress and I quickly, but politely walked to see his Majesty.

"Your Majesty"

I said, curtseying.

"Rise"

"Thank you"

He ordered everyone out and told me to come sit by his side.

I gladly did so.

We shared a few moments of silence before I decided to ask why I was requested there.

"Your Majesty" I decided to stay formal. His small smile faded. "For what have I been summoned?"

He sighed.

"Now I can't even see my own wife"

I quickly started to apologize, but he cracked a smile and so did I.

"Forgive me for not staying with you yesterday" he said.

I didn't know how to answer.

We starred at eachother.

Just as he was about to pull me in for a kiss, the doors swung wide open.

"Rea Man Zui!"

His Majesty Excitedly shouted. I smiled, because of the way he said it. He sounded like a little kid.

But as soon as I saw them both together, my smile dropped.

"Greetings, Liu gēgē."

I wanted to finish this chapter differently, but just left it like this. I honestly have no idea where exactly this story will go yet, because I just write as I think. But I hope it all makes sense.

I'm sorry this chapter was so short. I'll definitely try to make them longer.
