After beating Akane's assailants into submission, three male teachers and two female teachers arrived as the men took away the guilty students while the women took Akane to the nurses office with you and Kimura both following after them. Akane had gotten lightheaded and fell asleep due to the scary experience as she laid in a bed behind a closed curtain. You and your friends were all sitting in a bed nearby in silence as Suzu had tears in her eyes.
"This is my fault..." Suzu said as you stared at her with guilty eyes. "If I had noticed sooner that she felt excluded from us...this wouldn't have..." Your sister placed her head down in the palm of her hands as you knelt down in front of her and placed a hand on her back.
"No, none of this was your fault. This is my fault. I should've noticed sooner when she left. I also should have kept a better eye on you two." You said as you reached one hand up and took one of hers as she lifted her head to see you with a face full of guilt and regret. "I'm sorry..." You said as she couldn't believe how guilt ridden you looked.
"Y/N..." Suzu muttered in worry, but wiped her face of tears as she clasped your hand in between hers. "...You really are serious about making us like family, I don't think anyone has ever gotten that mad on our account." Suzu said as you looked at her seriously.
"Of course I would get angry! Someone I just let into my life was about to go through something so horrible, I don't ever want to let anything bad happen to you guys. Even though we've just become family, you two, Lily, and your mother have become the most important people in my life. If anythin ever happened to any of you...I don't know what I'd..." You hung your head once more and fell silent as Suzu placed your head on her lap and stroked your head gently.
"Thank you, Y/N...You truly are an amazing brother." Suzu said as her tears were put to rest by you.
"Why...?" A raven haired girl thought as she had woken back up and heard everything, and tears began to run down her face as she covered her mouth from making noise. "...Why do you care about us so much? We're just strangers..." She thought as her mind flashed back to the image of your angered face. "...How could you react like that for someone you don't even know?" Akane thought as she tried to calm down.
"Excuse me." A voice came from the door as you and everyone in the room turned to see the nurse and your teacher walk in. "I think it would be best if you all return to your classes now. I'll stay by Akane's side, so you don't have to worry about her being alone." The nurse said as you all stood back up.
"Thank you so much, ma'am." Ume thanked on everyone's behalf as you all gave her a bow of gratitude before leaving the room and following your teacher back to class.
Meanwhile, Akane laid in her bed staring up at the ceiling wondering what she did to deserve all of this. Her mind wandered all through her memories before finally stopping at a particular memory. Back in their old home, it was a one room, one bath apartment with a living space connected to the kitchen. Their old home was pretty run down and wasn't much inside in terms of comfort as there was only a small table for them to sit around whenever they ate or did work, and their futons that were pretty worn out. Akane found herself sitting in the center of the living room alone as she stared at her father's back as he stood at the door.
"You were all a mistake. What was I thinking messing around with some whore like your mother? I've got better things to do, so tell that bitch that I'm not gonna be seeing her anymore." Her father spoke in a disgusted tone as he threw his ring at Akane, making it crash against her forehead.
"Dad...?" Akane could only mutter in quietly and in confusion of what her father was doing as he just scoffed at the sight of her before turning and slamming the door shut, leaving her in the dark apartment alone.
