TW: swearing, kidnapping, the usual things, threats,

"So glad that you finally joined the party!" Remy was absolutely beaming, almost as though there was an actual party going on, or like he was greeting friends he hadn't seen in years.
"Release them," Virgil hissed. He looked like he couldn't decide whether or not to be more pissed or more scared for whatever was coming. Roman thought they should be scared; it would be almost impossible to do anything while Patton and Janus were being held hostage.
"Mmm, see, I can't do that." Roman didn't understand how Remy's voice could be so bright in a situation like this, but then again, this was probably the most exciting thing he'd done in a while. "You're not exactly in a position to make demands right now, and the boss still wants you captured. My reputation is on the line here, and if I want my free Starbucks coffee then I'm going to have to actually bring you to Logic this time."
"We're literally a team," Lucas muttered with a sigh. "You're not some vigilante bringing down crime single handedly."
"Oh shut up. You're almost as bad as Logic sometimes. You need to loosen up a little." Remy turned back to Roman and Virgil. "Now you two, you seem like fun to be around. If I didn't have explicit orders not the fuck up this time I would go clubbing with your or something, but everyone just has to be boring."
"You could just let us go," Roman suggested. He thought it was worth a try. "We could all go somewhere and have a fun time. Logic doesn't need to know. All that he would know is that you haven't caught us yet."
"As great as that would be, I'm not going to fall for that," Remy said. "Besides, Lucas here would report it to Logic before I could even blink." He sighed. "I guess this means I have to do my job. Oh well. I technically signed up for it, so I'm not sure what I was expecting."
"So what do you want, then?" Virgil asked, eyeing Remy and Lucas warily. "What's your price for letting Patton and Janus go?"
"Simple." Remy's smile was unnerving. "You two come with us on a little trip, and we let these two go. The boss is happy, they're free; it's a win-win."
"And what happens to us?" Roman cut in. Everything seemed too simple; there had to be a twist somewhere.
"Well, whatever the boss feels like I guess." Remy shrugged. "He never told us what he was going to do once you were there. I'd imagine Roman at least will be used as some sort of hostage for Intrusivity to draw him out of hiding, but I don't have a clue about what will happen to Virgil."
"What if we don't agree to come with you?"
"We'll just have to take you by force. If that means threatening your friends, so be it," Lucas stated coldly. "We've wasted enough time on this job already. There are orders to follow, and this time we will be following them."
"Relax, Lucas. Pretty soon I'll have to start calling you Logic." The look Lucas gave Remy was unamused. "But you are right. The clock is ticking down for a decision."
"Can we discuss this quickly?" Virgil asked. Remy nodded, though Lucas didn't look at all pleased with the decision. Virgil grabbed Roman's wrist and and pulled him into the corner of the room, just out of earshot of the other two. "What do we do?"
"Why are you asking me? Aren't I the one who got us into this mess?"
"Well, yes, but you've dealt with the Talon Smoke people more than I have." Virgil glanced over at where Patton and Janus were still tied up and fast asleep. "I don't know what to do this time, Ro. I can't just leave them here like this after they let us stay here and put themselves at risk."
"Then maybe it's time we stop running." Roman gave him a wavering smile. "We can keep each other safe. I'm okay with going so that the other two are safe. Maybe there's nothing we could've done to stop this, but it is our fault that they got brought into it."
"So that's just it, then? We're giving up?"
"I think we are."
The two fell into a few seconds f silence, staring into each other's eyes as the weight of their decision settled onto them. Roman felt like there was something he should say, but his tongue felt far too heavy to speak. Instead, he just nodded back toward the others, and the two of them rejoined the group.
"Have you made your decision?" Remy asked.
"We have," Roman said. "We'll come with you as long as the other two are set free."
"Alright, let's go then boys. Lucas, cut the ropes."
Remy led the way out of the house, Virgil and Roman following behind him. Lucas brought up the rear, making sure they wouldn't go anywhere. Getting into the car felt like they were waiting for their death sentence. They could only hope that it wouldn't be their end.
