[Chapter twenty-one: The fate of the kiss]

It's the day of the race, and Yoongi has no idea what he's gotten himself into. He can't believe how dumb he is.
You can't be any more obvious? Kiss him if I win?
He's at a loss for words... with himself. He's been thinking about the dare ever since he'd made it official, and it's gotten him distracted.
I'm getting that kiss, he thinks. After all, a dares a dare, and Yoongi's not a loser.
Watching Hoseok race through the past practice days has given him all kinds of sensations. It's new and incredibly refreshing. When he takes off his helmet, Yoongi doesn't realize it, but he stares in awe. No one should look as good as him. His hair sweaty, falling over his forehead as he takes deep breaths— it's mesmerizing, he has to admit.
Even him smiling, smiling at the photographers, the reporters, that nice, wide smile makes him feel warm and giddy inside.
He remembers the general meeting they had the day before—between all racers and managers— both of them walking towards the building together because they'd happened to be at the same place at the same time when it was announced.
"How'd you do it?" Yoongi asked him,
"Do what?" Walking together seemed to be awkward for Hoseok, not so much for Yoongi though, he seemed to be enjoying every second of this.
"How'd you beat me?"
Hoseok snickered at the question. "I don't know... I just drove?"
"Yeah, you're right, dumb question." Yoongi shook his head, embarrassed.
"Why'd you decide to walk with me, you had your car didn't you?" Hoseok questions. "Did it run out of gas or something?" Yoongi shook his head. "Are you trying to figure out how to kick me out of the league?"
"No, I don't want you to be—kicked out" Yoongi replies. "In the beginning yeah for sure, but not anymore."
Hoseok's surprised. "That means we've progressed, what's the catch?"
"There is no catch," Yoongi counters. "I've read about you... researched a bit, I guess you can say I respect you."
By now they've both arrived at the building as Hoseok finds himself chuckling. He reaches for the door to open it. "Researched?"
"Yeah um, you've worked hard." he sighs, he can't believe what he's saying.
"Glad we agree on something."
"Well, not as much as me though, I'll let it pass."
Yoongi has to admit, the hate Hoseok once had for him has diminished a lot to say the least, he can say the same for himself too and he cant help but feel proud.
Yoongi enters his room to grab his helmet to put atop his head and leaves to find Hoseok leaving to enter the track already. Instead of saying anything, he knocks on his helmet, making the other jump and turn around, alert.
"My god you scared me," he says.
"Just wanted to say hi," Yoongi smiles at him, "And that I'm going to beat you."
Yoongi had even forgotten this whole idea of a kiss was just a dare given to the oh-so-disgusted-by-hoseok Yoongi, and was playing along without even realizing it.
"Thinking back, Yoongi, that's what you said last time, I think you lost."
"Okay?! This time I won't." Yoongi's firm with his words.
Hoseok's bold statements simply strengthen Yoongi's resolve. It's not because he's afraid of Hoseok beating him that he's gulping nervously. No, no, not at all. And now, because of how close Hoseok is and how confident his aura seems to be, Yoongi's cheeks are glowing crimson red.
"Do you think you'll keep beating me just because you beat me last time?" Yoongi chuckles, "You're insane."
Hoseok scoffs back at him. "Yeah, yeah Yoongs."
Yoongi's shoulders fall in defeat, frustrated, and he brings his arms in front of his chest, crossing them. "What if I win this time? Huh? Then what?"
"Then I guess you'll get your kiss, weirdo."
Oh.
It's too late for Hoseok to back out, to tell him he didn't mean it but Yoongi's already running out the door, sealing the deal.
