"Hey, you never finished telling me about your dream." I say to Claire as we walk to lunch. She grabs her apple and bites into it.

"It's not that interesting don't worry about it. Nick's got to stop interrupting me though, the bastard. Can't get a word in with that boy around." She smiles at me. "He's got a thing for you, ya know." I nod. Nick has had a crush on me since Pre K it wasn't exactly a surprise.

"He's cute. Obviously. He's related to you" I say and nudge her. "But he's like a brother to me. It would feel weird. She gives an understanding nod. "I mean maybe one day but for now..." I say but it's obvious she's not listening. I turn to see what she's looking at and see a beautiful red headed girl stroll down the courtyard. I look over at Claire who is staring intently at the girl looking breathless and sweaty. Behind her, I see a handsome dark haired boy. I begin to feel warm and start kicking myself over wearing my long sleeved dress. There's something vaguely familiar about the pair of them. Like I've met them before. They walk over to our table as it's the only table without a million people crowded around.

"Hello ladies" The boy winks at Claire and I. "Mind if we sit?" Something about him makes me want to say no but before I can protest, Claire pulls out a seat for the red haired girl. "I'm Cam and this is..." The girl grabs Claire's hand interrupting Cam.

"Arriane" Claire shakes her hand and introduces herself to the both of them. Noticing that Claire isn't going to introduce me too as she's to fixated on Arriane I decided to introduce myself.

"I'm Emma." I tell them. Arriane smiles warmly at me. I look over to Cam and see he's frowning at me. What's his deal? "Problem?" I ask.

"Is Emma short for anything? I don't like it it's too plain. Excuse me? I thought attractive people were supposed to be charming, not act like the son of Satan.

"Emmaline. But I prefer Emma." I was fuming. Who does he think he is. Cam sighed.

"The last Emmaline I knew liked to be called Mal." There was a hint of a smile as he closed his eyes looking lost in a memory. Mal? Why do I remember being called Mal. I've never been called that in my life.

"Well I'm not her." I snapped. I hate being compared to other people. It makes me feel small and unimportant.  Cam opened his eyes and looked blankly at me.

"Clearly." He responded. Cam stood up and walked back the way he came. What a jerk. Arriane smiled weakly.

"Don't worry about him. He's been moody lately." She says. No shit. "He'll come around. He's just not used to meeting..." She hesitated, thinking "New people." Arriane finished. That doesn't give him the right to act like an ass hat. But you can't judge people based on a first impression i guess.
