Chapter Nine

"You want me to massage your feet? You seem tired e," natigilan siya sa pag bukas at kubli ng mga libro ko sa shelves at tinignan ako, inaantay ang sagot ko.

Nanatili ako sa posisyon ko at nililibang ang sariling pinanood siya para hindi makatulog kahit na pagod ako. Marami pa kasi akong kailangang gawin dahil may ooperahan na naman ako mamaya at baka sakaling magkasama na naman kami sa iisang operating room.

"If okay lang sayo?" tanong ko sa kanya pabalik baka kasi napilitan lang para pagaanin ang loob ko.

"Kahit na hindi mo ako utusan o hindi ko sinabi, I'll still do it for you wether you like it or not," parang may humaplos sa puso ko dahil sa sinabi niya at kagat ko ang labing napangiti sa kanya. Ganoon din siya at ngumisi.

"Okay, do what you want just wake me up by 5 P.M, I still have many things to work on." Aniko at pinikit ang mata.

Hindi nagtagal naramdaman kong binuhat niya ako dahilan ng pagmulat ko sa aking mga mata.

"You need to rest on the couch, hindi dapat sa swivel chair." Aniya at naramdaman ko ang paglapag niya sa'kin sa malambot na itim na couch.

"Thanks," I whispered and slowly closed my eyes while smiling.

"Anything for my best friend," then I suddenly felt his bare hands palm on my foot. I felt his touch down there, mahina niya iyong pinisil.

His hands travel a bit on my legs and there he continued massaging and did some pressing. I hummed in the pleasure of satisfaction of what he did, it's really good. I didn't know he was good at this.

Pakiramdam ko ang haba ng tulog ko sa oras na nagising ako. Agad hinanap ng mga mata ko si Red, I saw him sitting on my swivel chair doing something on my Mac. My brows furrowed and wore my scuff slippers at nilapitan siya.

"Hey, you're awake." aniya niya ng sa wakas ay napansin niya na akong pumalapit sa kanya.

"What are you doing?" I asked and stayed in front of him through the table.

"Organizing your schedules and ready to print them...right! I've already done the things you needed to work kanina reason why I didn't bother to wake you up, I asked Felix for some instruction and madali lang naman pala kaya hindi na ako nahirapan pa." Masaya niyang sabi sa'kin.

I want to get mad at him for doing my job but what he said made my heart melt, ended up smiling.

"Wanna grab some dinner outside? We have an operation later, we need some strength," I knew it. We will be in the same operating room again.

"Sure, let's eat ramen then. But I needed to change, I feel so sticky I need to freshened up," aniko at naglakad papuntang drawer ko at kumuha ng extra damit doon.

Nagdadala kasi ako ng extra na mga damit kada buwan kasi minsan naiinitan na ako nilaladkitan sa katawan dahil sa pawis kaya kailangan kong maging presko pag hindi ko na kinakaya ang kaartehan ko sa buhay. May bathroom naman sa office ko kaya okay lang at kumpleto rin naman ang mga gamit ko dito.

"Take your time," sabi niya at ibinalik ang tingin sa laptop at nag type ulit siya.

Hinayaan ko na lang siyang gawin sa mga gusto niya at tinalikuran papuntang banyo para maligo. I wore another skirt but this time it's a (yellow) dijon mini skirt and on top I wore a plain white polo shirt, wearing a white converse high cut shoes.

Pagkalabas ko ng banyo ay halatang nagulat siya, I can see it in his eyes. I think he was already looking at the bathroom door while talking to someone on the phone kaya nagulat siya.

Ngumisi ako at kinuha ang sling bag ko at lumapit sa kanya sabay hawak sa kanyang kamay, "Let's go?" I asked him as he dropped the call.

"O-okay, let's go." He stuttered.

We both happily walked out of the office until we get in his car. I sat on the passenger seat and buckled my seatbelt, right after I did it I looked at him because he looks like he's gonna say something.

"Can you please recall what I told you last time?" My brows furrowed and I tried to recall some but I couldn't because of his stare. It feels like it's telling me something I should know.

"Let's date for real, Adelaine. I couldn't help to stop thinking that you wouldn't and I won't let that happen, I'm desperate to treat you right like how you've always wanted, gusto kita Adelaine so let's treat this dinner as our first proper date but in a Resto, can we?"

I gulped hard and looked away from his gaze. I can sense that he was smirking but I didn't mind it. I bit my lower lip and steal some glances at him, he was still staring at me admiring every detail of my face.

I can feel my heart beating so fast. Hindi ako makapaniwalang gusto niya ako. I must think that he may be doing this because I'm so hopeless at love and seeking that premium love. Pero, I feel like hindi e, more on being his best friend siguro.

"I don't need an answer of liking me back, I just want you to let me date you and fall in love with me," mas lalong lumakas ang kabog ng dibdib ko at hindi napigilan ang sariling lingonin siya.

"O-okay," nauutal kong sabi sa kanya, at siya naman ay ngumisi sa'kin sabay sa pagpaandar ng sakyanan at nagsimulang magmaneho ng sasakyan.

Tahimik lang kami buong biyahe papuntang resto at hindi pa rin nawala sa kanyang labi ang mga ngiting kanina pa naka plastara sa kanyang mukha, habang ako naman ay panay nakaw ng tingin sa kanyang gawi.

Sometimes he caught me by pinching my cheeks.

His hands traveled on my waist, holding it tightly hanggang sa makapasok kami sa loob mismo ng restaurant. Saka na lang siya bumitaw ng pinaupo niya na ako, ganoon din siya na ngayonb ay nasa harapan ko siya nakaupo.

He raised his left hand, and a waiter immediately went for us and gave us the menu. Agad naman niya tinanggap iyon at binigay sa'kin ang isa pang folder ng menu at tinggap rin mula sa kanya.

I only stared at the menu and didn't look through all of the dishes, my mind was still stuck in our conversation earlier in the car. I still couldn't believe that he likes me, impossible naman kasing mangyari iyon.

I ended up ordering Blanquette de Veau and Tielle Setoise. I see that he got himself a Confit de Canard and Rillettes de Porc. We have the same juice, a strawberry-flavored one.

"I heard from Clarke that Felix handed you some branches outside the country," natigilan ako saglit sa pagiisip habang nakatingin sa labas ng mag salita siya, nilingon ko iton at tumango.

"Yes, we still need to talk about it. I'm still not sure if I'll accept it...Luke said I can decline any time naman daw kasi willing naman siyang mag cover up," aniko at muling ibinalik ang gawi sa labas mula sa malaking glass na sliding door ng restaurant.

"It's your chance why not accept it na lang?" Si Red.

I still don't have any reason to accept or decline it. Wala pa namang isang buwan para hindi na ako makapagdesisyon kung tatangapin ko ba o hindi.

If I accept the opportunity, it will take me lots of time outside the country. Ayoko ko namang mawala ng matagal sa pilipinas dahil masyado akong attacht dito. I love everything in here kahit na may sumpa, I still love it here and I couldn't tell how much.

"Pagiisipan ko pa," tumango siya at napatanto ng dumating ang waiter na dala-dala ang aming pagkain.

Nagpasalamat kami sa naghatid na waiter and starts to eat our dinner.
