Stealth Class, More of a Nightmare
———————————————————
By the time I am in the cafeteria I only have 10 minutes left. I find Madeline, James, Blake, Jayden, and Bailey all tucked away in a corner table. I'm happy Madeline is making friends.I start walking over there till I freeze. I remember my friend's words, Don't get close to anyone, only trust yourself.
I stare back at the happy group, all laughing at something Blake said. I would see them in class in a few minutes anyways. I spin on my heel and leave the cafeteria.
Our next class is Stealth and Combat in rooms A12 - 15 with Agent Steenly. I meet up with the 'group' as I like to call them, who blast me with questions on where I was and why I stayed behind.
Though I didn't answer any of them truthfully.
As we enter the 'classroom' we realize it doesn't have any desks, only a few benches to sit down on. There is a giant course full of rock walls, spider webs, and almost anything to do with ropes. On the other side there are also punching bags and a weapons rack all on a blue padded floor.
All the students sit on the benches and talk with friends. As Agent Steenly comes in 2 minutes before class she is flooded with questions, but she tells them all to wait until class starts.
As the bell rings about 10 students raise their hands. Agent Steenly first picks on a short, tiny blond boy. "Are we going to use weapons today?"
"Agent Steenly puts her hand over her face and sighs, "I'm guessing you are Agent Murphy's son."
"How did you know?" the boy says.
"All that man thinks about is weapons, and to answer your question no. Anyone else who is going to ask me what we are going to be doing today, put your hand down."
All of the hands go down except this one blond tall girl's hand with glasses. "Yes," Agent Steenly saids. "Are we going to receive P.E. clothes."
"Good question, no you will not, sometimes in the field things don't go your way. You could be at a restaurant, party wearing a long dress but still have to fight with someone. You wouldn't go to change and then fight, you could lose your target. You have to fight right there and now. So you will wear your uniforms as you fight. Ok let's get started. First run around the gym 10 times."
Mostly all the students freeze in place except James, myself, and a few others. Some students asked the teacher why they had to run so much, other students looked so pale they were going to be sick, and the last few students weren't going to have eyes by the end of the day with how far out of their sockets they were.
Agent Steenly stomps her foot onto the ground making everyone shut up. "I SAID 10 LAPS, THIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT THE AVERAGE AGENT DOES IN 3 HOURS." Quickly everyone shakes off their complaints and start running.
At first everyone started together but as we hit the three lap distance started to grow between the first and last runners. Madeline along with Blake started to lose their pace and slow down falling to the back. Jayden and Bailey stay in the middle and James and I are at the front.
"Hey," James saids, "looks like it's just us.""Yeah, so."
"You want to race to see who is the fastest."
I like it, I always love a competition. "Sure, just try not to fall to far behind," I smirk.
"Your going to be the one falling behind," James says and he starts to speed up.
"Oh it's on."
I quickly start to catch up to James and I start to see his eyes widen just a little. I wave as I run past him.
"See you at the finish line," I say in a sweet voice.
James comes in right behind me and we wait on the benches for everyone to finish. As other students finish I notice a few run out of the gym. One can't even run out of the gym before he vomits all over the floor in the corner.
The poor food.
Well not all of them started vomiting others did look like they were about to faint.
After everyone finished Agent Steenly said, "That was a nightmare, if any of you were sent out into the field you would die in five minutes. Anyways, since you've all finished emptying out your stomachs, we can start what we are actually going to do." Gasps echo the gym and I have to clench my teeth together to keep from laughing. Most of the students will barely be walking tomorrow.
" You all will climb up and down this 40 foot rock wall till the end of class which is in 30 minutes."
Madeline, who had barely survived the first task, just stared at the rock wall.
"Esma, if I faint make sure to catch me," then started climbing the 40 foot wall."
"WAIT, WHAT?!" Great, now every time I move up a few feet here I am staring at Madeline to make sure she doesn't fall. I sigh and start moving to the walk.
By the end of class Blake, Jayden, and Bailey didn't look the best either. Blake had vomited after running and looked like he was going to pass out any second. Bailey and Jayden were red and sweaty; they didn't look as bad. James and I on the other hand looked like we just went for a morning jog.
"How do you guys look like you didn't do anything," questioned Bailey.
"It looks like I wasn't the only one that trained before I came here," smiled James.
Darn it. I put my hands up, " Oh no it looks like I've been caught."
The two of them laugh as Madeline, Jayden, and Blake try to catch their breath. Before we leave Agent Steenly stops us, "Before you leave you are going on a mission in a week's time. Be prepared."
"That's it, she's trying to kill us," frowns Blake.
"I agree, we don't have to worry about the mission we're going to be dead before the week is up," saids Madeline.
"You guys aren't gonna die, Agent Steenly has been teaching for a while so she knows what our bodies can take."
"Yah sure James, keep protecting the teacher," Madeline says waving her hand.
We walk into our Coding and Cracking Class in room B34. Sadly after gym class Madeline doesn't look in the mood to code.
I am mistaken. So very mistaken. As soon as Madeline enters the classroom, her face lights up like a candle. You couldn't tell she was about to pass out a moment ago.
The classroom was another lecture hall with computers on every table. Madeline skipped up the stairs to row 3 and sat patiently waiting with a computer in front of her for the class to start. I have never seen her so quiet, it's kind of scary.
Once the class started the teacher talked in code the entire class. Madeline and a few other students seemed to get it, but the rest of the class looked very confused.
I, who understands the basics of hacking, was only somewhat confused. James on the other hand looked at the teacher like he was talking in Latin. By the end of class most kids had zoomed out and or were sleeping on the tables. After the bell finished ringing Mrs. Indigo smiled and said, "Make sure you all prepare for the quiz next class." Ha, not wonder she can go so fast and make sure everyone pays attention. If she throws a quiz after every lesson even if the kids don't pay attention they have to study the material for the quiz. Unless they want to fail which gets them kicked out of the school.
As we walked out of the classroom Jayden was asking Madeline how she could type that fast and how her fingers don't hurt. Madeline laughed it off and said it must be in her blood. We all finished the day by walking to dinner, studying in the library for the Coding quiz, then getting kicked out of the library for being "too loud and a distraction for other students trying to study." The librarian's words, not mine.
We all ran back to the dorm lobby and talked there till five minutes before the curfew. For how short of a time everyone has known each other they all laughed and smiled like they have known each other for their entire lives.
