day four: forget

I'll forget about him, he promised himself. It was particularly annoying how he just seemed to keep coming back.

Todoroki has a crush, and his self-consciousness and underconfident attitude may have sabotaged his chances.

~~~
Todoroki isn't a hundred percent sure when it happened.
It wasn't exactly a slow-developing crush, it just happened.
He woke up, went to class, and found himself staring at Bakugou.
And then not being able to look away.
He spent alarming amounts of time wondering if Bakugou was looking at him, too.
He doubted it.
~~~
baku's pov:

"Hey, Todoroki-kun!" Deku walks up to Todoroki, and Bakugou can feel a sudden random flare of something in his chest.

As Deku and Todoroki converse, the small spark of anger turns into a full-on flame.
It's fucking annoying how hard Deku tries to be friends with everyone.
Can't he just fuck off for once?

"Whoa, Bakubro, you look like you're gonna make a hole in the wall with that stare," Kirishima comments, popping up from somewhere behind Bakugou. "Who're you starin' at? Todoroki and Midobro?"

Mina claps, letting out a sharp laugh. "Are you jealous?"

Bakugou's cheeks flame, and he lets out a growl that is in no way subtle. "Why the fuck would I be jealous?!"

"Because you've been friends with Midobabe over there for the longest time, and now Todoroki comes along and is trying to steal your man?"

Mina couldn't have been more wrong.
"Ew," is all Bakugou has to say.

~~~
todo's pov:
It really sucks to have a crush on someone who treats you as their mortal enemy.
Todoroki would know, because his crush on Bakugou hasn't changed for the past two weeks.
It hurts to know that, whenever he's thinking about Bakugou, Bakugou is likely thinking about someone else.
Someone much better suited for him than Todoroki.
Again, it hurts.
Compared to all those times he's been detroit smashed by Midoriya, and pummeled in the stomach by Kirishima's hardened form, that pain was nothing.
This hurts a lot more.
~~~

Every time he tries to forget, Bakugou would show up again, fuck up his entire mindset, and send his world spinning with a simple, tiny action.
(Like picking up papers Todoroki dropped, or simply shoving him aside in the morning and yelling, 'get out of my way, asshole' at him.)
These are the times when it's the hardest to just forget.
(These are also the times when Todoroki just keeps falling back in love with a certain Katsuki Bakugou.)

~~~
Aizawa levels the entire class with a tired glare, and announces that the class will be sparring as a warm-up activity. "Get your shit together, you're gonna beat each other up," were his exact words.
He read off the list in his hand.
"Aoyama and Asui, Ashido and Iida, Uraraka and Kaminari, Ojiro and Kirishima, Koda and Shoji, Satou and Jirou, Sero and Tokoyami, Hagakure and Yaoyorozu, Mineta and Midoriya, and Todoroki and Bakugou."
He didn't wait for everyone to process this, jumping back into his sleeping bag to watch the proceedings.
Todoroki tries to not look in Bakugou's direction but can't help but glance over at least three times.
Once, he swear he heard Bakugou say his name to Kirishima, but he can't be sure.
(He assumes he heard it wrong, because why would Bakugou ever talk about him?)
Not once, though, is Bakugou looking back at him.
Not once.
It hurts.
"Todoroki and Bakugou." Aizawa's voice is tired (but hey, that's not unusual at all,) and he nods his head for them to step up.
Todoroki gulps.
"Hey, fucker." Bakugou's voice is, as usual, loud.
"Yes, Bakugou?"
"Use your left," is all Bakugou says, and Todoroki still remembers the intensity of Bakugou's glare at the sports festival.
"Of course."
They step onto the field, and Todoroki is glad for once to have an excuse to look directly and unapologetically at Bakugou's face.
(Which is beautiful, but that's nothing new.)
Bakugou lets off multiple small explosions, running at a superhuman speed towards Todoroki.
Unfortunately, the sun chose this moment to shine directly in Bakugou's eyes, highlighting the crimson red of his irises.
Todoroki short circuits at the worst possible time: when Bakugou throws his first full-on punch at his face.
Normally, Todoroki would easily dodge, but he just freezes.
He can feel the force of the punch, he can feel the pain that comes afterwards.
More importantly, he can feel the waves of anger that Bakugou is channeling right before he blacks out.
~~~

He wakes up to see two crimson red eyes that he keeps finding beautiful, somehow.
An overwhelming amount of tangled up emotions hits him right away, mostly coming from Bakugou.

Anger, annoyance, and concern.
Concern?

Bakugou speaks before Todoroki can open his mouth.
"You lost, asshole."

"Sorry-"

"Don't." Bakugou's voice isn't as angry or frustrated as Todoroki would've expected. "You didn't even try."

Todoroki can't argue with that. He can still remember freezing up completely, unable to move. "I wanted to," he mumbles instead. "I tried."

"What?" Notable confusion flashes across Bakugou's face, and Todoroki knows it's justified.

"I just- the sun did this weird thing, and I saw your eyes and I froze-" Todoroki's words deteriorate until they're mostly just jumbled up sounds.

Bakugou looks at him a little strangely, and Todoroki takes this as his cue to shut up.
"Say that again?"

"You looked- pretty?"

"Was that a confession?"

"I guess it was," Todoroki agreed, deciding that this couldn't get any more embarrassing anyway.

"That was a lame-ass confession. Do it again."

Todoroki was utterly perplexed. "Sorry- what?"

"Do. It. Again."

Todoroki figured Bakugou enjoyed humiliating him as much as possible. He did it, anyway. "I've been in love with you- I'm sorry?" Todoroki doesn't know why he's apologizing, honestly, but it seems more natural than saying whatever sappy shit he's thinking.

"Better," Bakugou says, right before pushing his lips onto Todoroki's.
