Roseanne and Lisa had decided to cook some dinner together, they had gone to the grocery store and collected all the necessary ingredients. It was some strange atmosphere around them but it still felt so normal being around each other.
The blonde realized she still found her way around in the kitchen, Lisa hadn't changed much in their once shared home and in some way it felt like Roseanne never left. She was curious every time she opened a drawer to see if the brunette had moved something but she hadn't.
"So..." Lisa was cutting some vegetables, her hair was up in a messy bun now and she had taken off her sweater. "How's New York?"
"Full of life...it really isn't a cliché" Roseanne informed her. "It's hectic...I'm glad I never went in that direction...it's to much to keep up with"
"What do you mean?" Lisa kept her eyes on the knife.
"Working here...I get to do what I'm passionate about, fashion. Over there it's more focus on everything around you, how you appear, what people you know, what events you get invited to, how you get mentioned in media and yeah the list goes on..." She told her. "I mean the possibilities are higher there and I understand why people search for this but...for me who's already on the top list of designers I don't need that"
"I get it..." Lisa nodded and grabbed some tomatoes, they we're barbecuing tonight.
"That's why...people like Josh get sucked into all of that. It can be an incredible ego boost to constantly be told how gorgeous you are"
"Do you guys keep contact?" Lisa had to ask and she stopped cutting for a second.
"No..." Roseanne shrugged. "He's a good guy though and I hope he gets a successful career and sometimes we cross paths due to work but that's it"
"I never liked him for you" Lisa looked at her. "It didn't sit right with me"
"Oh, really?" Roseanne was preparing the potatoes with seasoning.
"You're such a lively person, smart...your brain is unbelievable. I just couldn't understand how he could match that, he seemed dull"
"So you're saying you're smarter than him?"
"I know I am" Lisa smirked. "I think you know that too"
"I do" Roseanne smiled. "I think no one has understand me as good as you"
"That's probably true...Should we start the grill?" She asked and changed the subject drastically.
"Yes" Roseanne was starting to get hungry.
They finished preparing the food and mostly small talked about nothing, it's like they both knew the heavy conversation was coming but they dragged it. Lisa took over the grill and Roseanne set the table, they were gonna eat outside in the beautiful summer evening.
She couldn't help but try to make it look a bit romantic, she moved out some flowers and decorated as much as she could. Candles was lit and she poured them some red wine since Lisa was almost done cooking the meat.
"This looks nice!" Lisa walked to the table with a plate of vegetables and meat, Roseanne had brought the potatoes from the oven inside.
"And that looks delicious" Roseanne eyed the food, she had only had a poorly meal from the flight.
"Well we made tons...dig in" Lisa took a sip from her wine and eyed Roseanne as she was starting to fill her plate.
"What?" Roseanne noticed and looked up.
"Isn't this strange?" Lisa locked eyes. "Us cooking a meal together?"
"If you think about it...it's not really weird" Roseanne added some potatoes to her plate before she handed over the ladle to Lisa. "We have done this many times before"
