My Ordinary Life
The sound of applause coming from my clubmates was heard as my best friend's performance ended. The way that she danced was wonderful.
"Great job, Villalopez! Nakita ko ang improvement mo sa pagpapakita ng emotions at gestures," Abot hanggang langit ang ngiti ni Haven nang siya ay mapuri ng aming dance instructor. "you have a huge potential, keep it up!" Agad siyang yumuko at nagpasalamat. "Thank you po ma'am!"
The instructor checks the paper to see who is the next person to perform. "Borromeo! At the front please."
Nang matawag ang pangalan ko, tumayo ako at naglakad papuntang harapan na siya namang pagbalik ni Haven mula roon. She curved her hand to form a fist and looked at me as if she was wishing me luck.
Nang nasa harap na ako, binigyan ko ng thumbs up ang instructor as a sign na handa na akong sumayaw. Later on, I hear the music playing.
(Listen Geyser by Mitski while reading.)
You're my number one,
You're the one I want,
And you've turned down,
Every hand that has beckoned me to come
I remain still yet I feel my heart is about to burst at any moment. Lahat ng mga clubmates ko as well as the instructor ay nakatingin sa akin. They're waiting for me to do something spectacular.
You're my number one,
You're the one I want,
And you've turned down,
Every hand that has beckoned me to come
I raise my left hand in front of me while it was being held by my other hand, and slowly but surely I move forward. I bend down, graceful as ever, syncing into the rhythm of the song. I can feel my breath shortening yet I can sense that the nervousness inside me is slowly dying out.
'Cause you're the one I got,
You're the one I got,
So I'll keep turning down the hands,
That beckon me to come
I turn slowly and elegantly then begin to tug my back, I can feel my emotions coming out as my movements are becoming harsh and powerful.
Though I'm a geyser
Feel it bubbling from below,
Hear it call, hear it call
Hear it call to me
Constantly,
All of a sudden, the atmosphere changes. Ang tensyon na nakapalibot sa gym ay unti-unti nang nawawala. I let my hands move their way to my head, my heart is beating so fast, faster than a cheetah running a mile.
And hear the harmony
Only when it's harming me,
It's not real, it's not real
It's not real enough,
I kept my gestures soft yet powerful. I let my emotions overflow within me. With a quick gaze, I see their mouths agape.
Make yourself shine, Shinelle.
And I will be the one you need
The way I can't be without you,
