There is one thing I loved about myself a year ago, something nice and good and I'm pretty sure anyone who doesn't have it would be jealous.
I wish I could go back and drag that thing into my life but I don't think there's a time machine lying around somewhere around my apartment.
I still haven't gotten a job and I really want to cry my ass out, I can't keep eating cereals and pasta. I passed by a restaurant two days ago and the aroma was reeling me in then my balance pulled me back to the sidewalk.
Do you know what it feels like to live off just two varieties of meal.

Well, I would have gotten a job but the prerequisite for the first one was.....
Ok I'll just tell you what happened.

I had done my part by wearing something nice because first impression matters, I had my resume which looked pretty good by the way. I was 65% sure that I would get the job.
I waited for them to call my name and I pumped my courage and morale up a bit before walking into the office.
The interviewer was a man in his early forties and I guessed he was the boss and since the job role had to do with working right next to him all day I'm pretty sure he wanted to do the interviews himself.
I was answering his questions smoothly and I was kind of surprised that I had a brain.
I was expecting him to say "Well,  Miss Carson, you are fit for the job. Resume next Monday".
Well he didn't say that. He asked another question, one that was way beyond my imagination and It didn't even have to do with my work except the company was totally into something else.
Well he said "Miss Carson, you seem to be good at almost everything, do you happen to be good in bed?".
I would have laughed at his expensive joke but this fucktard was serious.
I needed a job and he wanted to fuck me.

Well here I am today, jobless and almost a murderer.
The second interview went smoothly but I didn't get a call from them but my fingers are still crossed.
Maybe if I can't get a white collar job I could look for something around like a restaurant or store.
A message popped on my phone and since I didn't have much contacts on this phone and by much I mean only one person and that's my neighbor.
She wants to know if I can join her family for dinner.
Free food.... Free delicious food.
Sorry dear pasta, but you should know that we meet to part.... Just this night though.
I sent a quick reply and told her I'll come over to help. At least I could do something useful today.

.....,..,..........,,..,,.,
"What exactly are you cooking?" My face is scrunched up in confusion.
It looks like Ayanfe is mixing up concoctions but it smells nice.
"It's a Nigerian dish, This is the soup" she says proudly while adding some salt. At least I recognized the salt.
After stirring it for some time she stretched the a small spoon with some of the soup on it and urged me to open my mouth.
I wasn't so sure but it smells great.
It tasted really good at first but it was really spicy.
"Did you dump a tank of hot sauce in it?"
"Nope, just pepper and tomatoes. Don't worry the ewedu would tone it down for you"
"What the fuck is ewedu"
Instead of answering me she just pulled the lid to some container and there was green juice in it.
"We're gonna drink smoothie while eating that?" Trust me this Nigerian food is starting to get weird.
My new friend happened to find what I said amusing because she's basically laughing her ass off now.
"If I keep explaining it would only confuse you, I'll just show you"
That would be great then.
After few minutes of stirring the spicy soup, she boiled some water and stirred some weird looking flour in it, it thickened to form a brown stuff.
While we were setting the table, a man walked in and I assumed he was Ayanfe's husband because her child looked exactly like him, just the younger version.
He's tall and muscular, not really a big guy but his muscles were appropriate for his body size. He looked serious but I got to know that was a facade, he's actually a nice man.
"You must be our neighbor?" He walked to me and stretched out his hands.
"Yes, I'm Annabella"
"I'm Timi, I'm glad you're joining us for dinner. I've always wanted to meet the woman my wife won't stop talking about. I hope you enjoy what my wife is serving today".
"I can't wait to try it". Truth is I'm scared of the soup but I'm curious about the food so I'm going to eat it. You know me so don't judge.
Apparently the smoothie is suppose to go into the same plate as the soup. Wow.
Ayanfe showed me how to eat the brown stuff with the soup and truly the smoothie toned down the spicy soup and I could taste the goodness of this. She isn't only a good baker but a good cook too.
After dinner, we were sitting in the living room and talking about random things. Timi was telling me about how they got settled here before Ayanfe left to check on her baby.
"So what do you do Anna?"
Bingo
"I'm unemployed for now, I've been looking for a job and I haven't gotten one yet but I'm still looking" I shrugged my shoulders and hoped that I didn't look like a lazy woman who just wanted to sit back and do nothing.
"I'm sure you'd get one soon"
"I hope so, I can't spend all my time behind my doors" I laughed but he was just staring at me like I said a random thing, I guess he didn't get the joke or I wasn't funny.
Ayanfe joined us later and we kept talking about them then me. They seemed like they would be my friends for a while and since everyone was opening up i told them everything about me. Everything.

But were they really opening up to me or just telling me things I wanted to hear.
