Roseate light filled Ramses' room at sunrise, his figure pacing around as he rehearsed how he was going to explain himself to (Name). "And then I said yes. Not because I wanted to! I mean I did at the time, but not anymore. No what I'm trying to say-" he groaned abruptly and threw his hands up in the air. Slumping down on one of the chairs, his leg subconsciously began to bounce. "I just have to tell her like it is." He muttered before putting on his new, starched nemes-a traditional headdress that he was to wear as Prince Regent, exhaling sharply in the process."Everything will be fine. Everything will be fine." he affirmed as he stood up and forced his legs to move him to the door. He felt like there was a magnetizing force pulling him back, screaming that he should just hide in a corner. Swinging his bedroom door open he made haste to her room, but before he could get anywhere he collided with someone.
Before completely sending the yelping person flying backwards he grabbed their hand and pulled them so close that they were only mere centimetres away. Noticing who it was he immediately let her go and stepped back. "Sara?" he asked, confusion written all over his face as the frazzled girl breathed heavily. Her gold leaf crown tilted to the side and her body was still frozen where he left her. "Oh my-you really gave me a scare there Ramses." she managed to laugh, before brushing off her dress as her cheeks flushed red. She was wearing the latest Egyptian fashion, he wondered if Rabia or (Name) had given her this dress upon orders, or if it were the other maids. "Oh...I'm sorry, it's just that I had to go do something." Ramses replied before walking out and shutting his door. Great, now he had Sara to deal with.
"Oh no worries! I assume you have many duties as Prince Regent, huh?" she asked, taking this as an invitation to walk and talk with him. The only person he needed to be walking and talking with was (Name)! Holding back the urge to throw his head back in annoyance he thought of a way to get her off his back. "Yes, very confidential stuff. Things you can't even know about." Ramses said as he pressed his lips together, hoping she would get the memo. "Really? Is it that serious?"she raised a brow, trying to keep up with his faster stride. "Oh yes, so you should just...explore the palace or something." He began dismissing while losing his patience, but Sara was too head-strong to let Ramses sweep her sway. "Are you okay?" She pressed, grabbing his wrist to stop him.
"Yes, I'm fine." No he wasn't. Sara let out a sound of amusement, as if she could read his mind. "You've just been acting strange since after the banquet. You're like a completely different man than when you introduced me to your parents and the guests last night. You're having second thoughts aren't you? That's why you asked me that weird question last night." she accused Ramses before he snatched his hand away from her grasp. Was he going to have to tell her the truth now too? Things were just getting worse and worse for him weren't they? "I'm right aren't I?" She pestered, before Ramses just wasn't able to contain himself any longer. "Okay fine you are, because I was never supposed to get married to you! Happy now?" he revealed between clenched teeth trying to keep his voice down. "I thought you hand picked me!" she immediately cried out in defense.
Ramses sighed and began to pace around again, trying to regain his composure. "No, no. It was a lie, my dad lied to you and he set me up. I didn't even know you were going to be my suitor, I thought he was just organizing a banquet because he promoted me to Prince Regent. So when you came out I just panicked and said yes. He knew I couldn't publicly say no and I was scared of what he would do to me if I refused." Sara listened wordlessly, her eyes glazed and wide. "If you're hiding anything else from me you better tell me now." She choked out, her hands balling into small fists as she withheld the urge to breakdown before him. "My father did all of this because he knows that I'm...that I'm in love with another. My childhood best friend, one of our maids." he added, rubbing more salt into her fresh wounds.
"Oh God," she put a hand on her forehead and looked up to the ceiling of the palace as if she were going to faint. Before he went to catch her again, she held out a hand to stop him from coming near her. "Just... give me a moment to process all of this." she curtly replied, as Ramses was debating whether or not he should leave her there and look for (Name). Right before he was about to open his mouth she interrupted him. "So your father is basically plotting against you to keep you in control and all this time she was just a pawn in his grand scheme?" she summarized easily, though her dejected tone was still present. "Well-yes actually, wow." he confirmed, shocked she made it sound so simple. "I catch on easily," she smiled sarcastically, still disappointed with the bitter truth. "When you put it like that now I realize how bizarre all of this actually sounds." he spoke.
