Ran texted you that he had a surprise in store for you and to come over and you giddily got to his place as soon as possible. You rang the doorbell and it was Rindou who opened the door. "Oh hi Rin!" "Hello, come in, Ran's waiting for you upstairs." He gestured with his right hand to come in and that's when you noticed the red string attached to his pinky. That same string that is connected to your pinky and that's when the color drains from your face.
"Rindou, our pinkies." You gasped in horror. He looks at his pinky and then yours. "You gotta be shitting me." "There is no way this is happening right now." "As much as I don't want to believe it, it appears that it is indeed for real." "Rindou, what the fuck do we do?" That's when Ran's voice came from behind you, "Do what? And what's taking you so long?" "Oh- uh Ran, something unexpected came up." "What is it?" You had a hard time getting the words out as they all got stuck in your throat. Frustrated at the situation at hand, tears started dripping down your face. Concerned by you suddenly crying, Ran shook you, "Y/N, is everything ok? You can tell me what's bothering you." "Everything is not ok *sob* Rin and I *sob* red string *sob* our pinkies *sob*" You couldn't even see Ran from the tears that's blurring your vision. Maybe it was a good thing that you couldn't see him because you couldn't face him as you confessed the truth to him.
Ran was appalled by the words that you uttered. He grits his teeth and clenches his fist. Rindou speaks up, "I'll give you guys some alone time." He left you both and a long silence wafted between you both. Ran was the first one to break the silence, "I'm breaking up with you." "No, Ran, please don't do this, we can figure something out." You plead. "Figure something out?! You can't fucking change fate Y/N!" "But we promised each other." "The red strings decided that those promises don't mean shit." "We can't end it like this Ran, please." As hard as it was for you, it was even harder for Ran. He huffed in a breath that he swore was about to break him into tears. "It's over so get that into that thick head of yours." He turned his back towards you and went back upstairs.
The promise that you both would be together till death do you both apart, the promise that you both will get married and live happily together were shattered within 5 minutes. That's when you completely broke down and fell onto the floor. Ran on the other hand had just gotten back into his room and slammed his door shut. He slid down the closed door and that's when the tears he was holding back started falling. He reached into his pocket and pulled out an engagement ring. His surprise was that he was going to propose to you and fulfill the promises he made to you but the world was cruel. He whispers, "I hope Rindou makes you happy."
