Your mother helps you carry things to the house.
"Where do you want these" your mother asks while lifting up a few shopping bags
"Oh just put them at the bottom of the stairs I'll take them to my room after"
She peeks in the bags.
"What's in here"
You lightly slap her arm.
"Hey no peeking, they're just a few things for Christmas"
Your mother smiles and nods then she puts the bags down.
You look around the place.
"Awfully quiet, where is everyone?" You ask
"Noah and your father are still in Australia"
You cut her off.
"What?..wait are they coming back for Christmas"
Your mother shrugs.
"I'm not sure, I spoke to your father this morning and he said he'll try and get a flight but he can't promise anything because where they're staying the airport closes this week"
You nod.
"Anyway before you interrupted" your mother continues.
"Mason is due home tomorrow"
You smile.
You and mason are really close and you've missed him since you've moved out.
"Ellie is out shopping with her friends and Scarlett is most likely in her room"
Your eyes widen.
"You left Scarlett on her own while you came and picked me up?..mom that's 6 maybe more hours being left alone, she's only 10"
"Calm down y/n, I didn't leave her on her own she was at the neighbours until 10 minutes ago when I let them know I was a few minutes away..I did ask her if she wanted to come but she said no"
You raise your eyebrow.
"Okay so you left her with complete strangers..that's not any better"
Your mother rolls her eyes.
"Honey they're not strangers there're a nice elderly couple who's like a second nan and grandad to her, we've known them since I was pregnant with your sister"
You nod your head.
"Riiiight..see if that was me you'd of made me come with you, I swear kids get it easy these days"
you say in a half joking and sarcastic tone.
There's a running noise coming from the stairs and you look towards them to see Scarlett running down them with a smile on her face.
"Y/n!!!!" She shouts.
"Hey kiddo"
She hugs you and you go on your knees to hug her back.
"I've missed you" she says
You let out a small laugh.
"I've missed you too"
She looks over to your bags.
"What's in them" she says pointing at them obviously spotting the sparkly pink bag pack
You smile.
"It's a surprise but if you help me carry them to my room you can have one of them before Christmas"
Her face lights up and she nods
"Okay"
When you get upstairs you give Scarlett her a early Christmas present for helping you with your stuff.
After that you unpack your things and change into something more comfortable.
When you've done everything you need to do you hang out with Scarlett in her room and you ask her about the neighbours since you feel weird about your mom leaving her with them.
Turns out she's completely fine with it and they mean no harm.
After that you make your self something to eat
Watch things on YouTube and then you decided to take the family dog out for a walk.
When you come back from walking the dog you see a green bag next to the stairs.
You take off the dogs lead and he sprints to the kitchen where you hear a familiar laugh
So you head to the kitchen.
"Omg mason your back!"
"Hey sis" he smiles while stroking the dog
