Monami's POV

I rushed into the room and the sight I saw, shook me to the core.

Special Agent Karan Shergill laid unconscious on a bed, he was attached to an empty IV and syringes, at the same time he was tied up with shackles to the same bed. An electric shock device next to his bed, alongside a stand of water. His clothes were tattered, his forehead had blueish green marks indicating the aftereffects of the electric current passed through it..

My Karan was given electric shocks in his forebrain, this thought terrified me to the extent that tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood affixed shivering  on the ground. As my sight fell on his arms and shoulders, I could see half heeled wounds, stitches that had opened up with dried blood around it, his untreated bruises had turn septic and extremely painful. Karan is alive... he is alive.. That was all that ran in my mind..

Sanju rushed towards me and shook me holding my shoulders bringing me back to my senses, I started walking towards my Khadoos Shergill who was laying almost lifeless, taking baby steps towards the bed. Touching and feeling him, almost assuring myself that it wasn't a dream, my Karan was alive but just barely.....

They had tortured him even when he was in the most weakest conditions. Fresh tears welled up my eyes, my hands were trembling as I run my fingers over his head and face with the most horrible memories filled my thoughts again. I just didn't know how to react, just 2 weeks ago I had seen him almost die in my own lap and today even as I have found him alive, he is in his worst condition.

I could not hold myself as I finally broke down pouring out the emotions bottled inside me ever since I had seen him take his almost last breaths; but a firm pair of hands held me by my shoulders and Batra sir spoke, " Monami we need to act fast, please kudko sambahlo aur jaldi se Karan ko examine karo, we need to be quick, come on everyone we don't have time to lose."

His words brought me back to my senses and I looked around as everyone wiped their tears too, Faizi and Balli immediately came ahead and started breaking off the chains and bondages, freeing Karan from the captive of those nasty terrorists. The para medics came in and attached a fresh bottle of IV along with the oxygen and pulse monitoring machine.

Two nurses came forward and started cleaning his wounds and bruises as I collected myself taking deep breaths and wiped my tears. Then I started monitoring his pulse rate which seemed too low and kept falling, he needed immediate stabilization. I took 2 injections and injected him the correct doses as he was shifted into the ambulance stretcher, I held his hand tightly not letting him go away from my sight as we settled in the ambulance with the others following us behind in the cars and jeeps.

We reached the nearest hospital and immediately took him to the emergency ward, his pulse rate was stabilizing slowly, but his vitals were yet to be examined as he laid unconscious. The senior doctors started examining him while I never left his hand. Finally the doctors spoke to me, "Dr. Mahajan, the patient's vitals are functioning fine" , I took a sigh of relief...

My Karan was fine, "But", the doctor continued to speak, "he has been tortured beyond imagination, electric shocks have left his body and brain in a very weak condition and to add to that his body is full of bruises and wounds, he has only been given very basic medication and little food, leaving him extremely weak and barely surviving. The physical and mental trauma that he has gone through is intensely high. "

"We have given him the necessary medication for the time being and he should gain his consciousness in 4-5 hours, however, his full recovery will take a long time and only once he is conscious we will be able to judge what kind of impact has resulted on his brain due to the electrocution. The shocks have been given to him directly on his forehead which can have dangerous aftereffects, we will conduct his psychometric tests to measure the aftereffects once he is full awake. For the time being we are shifting him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to keep a constant check on his vitals as the next few hours are critical.", the doctor finished informing me all the details.
