New Alton, 2030.
Mom and Dad drive us into the city, I've never seen him like this before. He was on the phone to uncle Desmond who'd rang the night before.
They haven't been off the phone since.
"Dad what's going on?" I ask him leaning forward.
"Don't worry Des we're just coming in the city! The traffic is terrible out here must be that Legion March that just happened." He assures.
"Dad..?"
He pauses and looks at me now. "Evelynn.. It's Etty she's in the hospital."
After that I felt a deep something.. Etty?
A strange feeling about the situation erupted inside of me, this being the first time Dad and Mom had been home together in months and now we can't spend time together.. because of Etty.
But it's Etty! If they're acting like this... it's serious, right?
My cousin, the one who's annoyed me since day one, the one isn't ever serious and always has a smile on her big face, the loud mouth? Etty...
Mom sits with a cool gaze on her face, not one of ignorance but one of focus as she drives through the streets.
"Okay okay Desmond, I understand I'll be there soon!" He looks at his phone and places it in his pocket.
"Listen Evie, Etty has been hurt and she's... not too well. Avery is coming down so you'll have to-"
"No! Dad you've just got home, so has mom! You can't leave already!" I grab his shirt.
He tenses his jaw.
Mom turns to me with a look of horror as they know the truth leaving my mouth, my Dads dead face makes me sick to my stomach. He isn't even bothered enough to show and emotion.
"S-Something are bigger than yourself Evie. One... day you'll understand what's happening isn't out of some kind of spite or arrogance towards you."
"We both love you. And im not leaving you I never will, im parting for a while. I won't leave you Evie." He tells me with a strong confidence.
I try holding my anger and tears back.
Am I being selfish? Or am I in the right?
"Your lucky to have so many people loving you Evelynn, some can't say the same. And one of those people aren't very well. So we should be more worried about them." Mom says her first words for a while.

All of us exit the car, Uncle Desmond and George stand outside. George is in Desmond's arms.
George hugging? Is it that bad? Oh god I'm such a selfish person for trying to make this about me!
As soon as they lock eyes.
"Desmond.." Theo says walking over, Mom and I walk behind.
As they approach they both shuffle into a run and wrap both their arms around each other, their hug was very tight.
George rubs his eyes, he's crying...
"I don't know what happened.. Theo! OH GOD. Shes... it's terrible!" He cries into Dads shoulder.
Seeing uncle Desmond like this isn't nice.. just like Etty his always sprunky and comedic. But this was no joke.
George walks over to them and Dad grabs his hair and pulls him in.
"Come on, let's see her." Dad tells us.
Desmond let's go of Theo and walks over to us trying to crack one of his signature smiles, wiping his tears out of his red puffy eyes. My own tear up.
