Present Day Hong Kong...

13th December 2040,

Step into Christmas- Elton John

My head sways as I listen to the music on full volume. "Emaline."

The jive runs through my bones, oh the joys of Xmas!

"Emaline!" My flies open. I jump and knock my vinyl player over.

"Ah shit! Damn it! Fuck!" I cry.

"Emaline.. breakfast is ready!" Mom yells.

"Alright, jeez." I roll my eyes.

"Don't alright Jeez me Emaline, your a twenty eight year old woman! You still haven't got a job and you've been living here your whole life. My house Emaline so when I tell you to get breakfast you get your breakfast." She states.

I sigh.

"Alright.."

She walks over to me. "I'm sorry..I've gotta get off, I love you, just please try Emaline, for me." She kisses my forehead and hugs me, she stands up and walks out for work.

Kneeling down I pick my vinyl player up and place it back on my counter, next to it is a picture frame of me and Mom on my sixteenth birthday.

My whole life I've heard of him, heard of his divine charm, his sapphire eyes, his golden hair... but I've never seen the man I'm supposed to call father. He never returned to my Mom all those years ago... but she still loves him with hesitation, never has she ever doubted her love for him.

I walk out of my room and down the hallway into the kitchen.

Every night when I was younger my mother would tell me the same story of him, we were pathetic to think he'd return.

"Alright honey, I'll see you after work I think grandma might come round so make sure your up and ready!" She exclaims walking out the door.

I walk and look at the dining table, my breakfast for today is Noodles with fried and luncheon meat. Taking a seat I begin eating it.

Mom says I do bare a striking resemblance to him like a lot maybe it's the eyes..

After my breakfast I begin doing chores around the house; cleaning, ironing and preparing moms lunch for tomorrow...

The door opens, Granny Pam.

"Darling?" She shouts.

I walk around to get from the kitchen. "Heya Granny!"

Giving her a wave I walk round a give her a hug. "Oh hello Emaline!" She grabs my cheek and she gives me a big smile.

Taking her hand I walk her into the living room, she sits. "Do you want some Milk Tea?"

She nods. "That would be lovely dear."

Making my way to the kitchen I turn the kettle on and get some milk out of the fridge.

"Your mother is at work?" She asks.

"Yeah you know that.. how's grandpa?" I respond.

"He's.. fine he had the bad case of the flu so he's just resting." She explains.

"Oh that's terrible!" I say watching the kettle.

She chuckles. "It'll go slower if you watch it."

"Huh?"

I take my eyes off the kettle and walk over and sit next to her..

"Granny Pam?"

She looks at me concerned.
