Six Years Later...

Simon had met Jeanette's sisters only a few months after first becoming her friend when they were ten years old.

Of course, she was somewhat hesitant about introducing Brittany to him, as she worried that her sister might take away her new best friend.

Thankfully, although Simon befriended Jeanette's sisters, he remained close only to Jeanette

It's only a week before the princesses 16th birthday, and Simon had a very special gift in mind for Jeanette- a pot of everlasting, purple and white, pansies.

Watching her delight in nature and it's beauty was something he could never get tired of doing. Jeanette was so loving to all living things, and that purity about her drew Simon into her own magical world.

He had finally perfected his experiment of making any flower variety become everlasting, and he decided that it would be the perfect gift for Jeanette's 16th birthday.

The three princesses are planning their birthday celebration at the castle, and all in the kingdom welcome to attend. Simon had his suit made weeks ago at the tailors, and it looked perfect because it was sure to impress Jeanette- especially since she hadn't ever seen him dress in formal attire.

The suit was as black as the night, with a simple midnight blue bowtie. He wanted the bowtie to be a blue tone which wouldn't take the focus off of the suit's black colour. The outfit was designed for a grown young man.

Ultimately, Simon wanted to make a good impression at the princesses birthday party, so that it would be the night that Jeanette would agree to dance with him.

A few years after being her best friend, he had gradually come to realized that his childhood crush had turned into him actually falling for her.

Simon only hoped it wasn't an unrequited love.

He finished putting the flowers in their purple decorated pot with a dark purple ribbon around it.

I really hope she'll like it... He told himself.

Simon imagined Jeanette's reaction to his gift- she would be ecstatic to receive it, so much so that she'd pull him into a kiss.

That's a little over the top... But, there's no harm in dreaming... He thought to himself once more.

Then he heard his father calling him from downstairs.

"Yes?" Simon answered.

He trotted downstairs to see what his father wanted. To his surprise, he saw him and the King all dressed up to look like they were going...fishing?

Charles and Arthur had gotten along pretty well over the years, and had built an amazing friendship- mostly because of Simon and Jeanette spending so much time together. .

They were by the front door chatting, before they noticed Simon standing in front of the kitchen door.

"Oh, hello son! Uh, go and pack your things quickly. Charles and I are going to go on a fishing trip for a few days." Arthur told Simon.
