Robin stared at a crack in the concrete wall and let her thoughts wander.
"Whoa.... What are you doing?" Chase asked, watching her through the bars of the cell.
Robin jumped and a puddle of water fell onto the bed, "W-what?"
"The water thing..." Chase said, his eyes narrowed.
"Oh... I guess I did that subconsciously..."
"You can't control your power?"
"Eh, depends on my mood really..."
"So... since you're talking, finally, how are you feeling?"
Robin huffed, rolling her eyes, "Well... I was focused on pretending I wasn't here... but your annoying voice made me mad."
"Whoops... Sorry love."
Robin's lip curled, "Love? Ew."
"What?! Aw come on, it is a common pet name in Britain! We use it all the time. It really doesn't mean much... but if it bothers you that much... I suppose I can stop," Chase's eyebrows drew closer together as he looked at Robin.
"I... You don't have to if it's your way of life. I'm not going to force you to do anything just because you are different."
Chase hid a smile, "I have a feeling you are referring to yourself?"
"I guess so..."
"The water thing... how did you do that?"
"I... I haven't totally figured it out, but I can draw materials out of my body and turn it into things... Like this."
Despite the handcuffs, Robin drew some water through her skin and formed a small ice sculpture of a flower. Chase watched in awe as she held the delicate structure in her hands, having it appear out of almost thin air.
"That was incredible! Does it hurt?" Chase's eyes lit up like a child's on Christmas.
"No... Not water at least. Blood and metal is a bit trickier," Robin inspected the ice flower in her palm and made it shift back into water and formed a kitten's face.
"You can control blood, metal, and water? Bloody hell! That is impressive!"
Robin smirked a little, "Thank you... I was just able to do it one day. I honestly have no idea how I got these powers, but I somehow know how I can do it... I can just... picture the substance leaving my body and it does... however much I need. Although I need to replenish it later, I have severe anemia so I don't do metals as often since iron is what I can mainly control."
"That is still so impressive! Can I touch it?" Chase pointed to the small icy kitten head in Robin's palm.
"No. It melts when other people try to touch it. Here," Robin stood and held her handcuffed wrists out and Chase touched the kitten and it fell apart. "Only I can touch it. Remember earlier? With the marble?"
"I thought you were just mad and it disappeared?"
"Nope, I did not do that," Robin stared at her palm and drank the small amount of water that was there. "It does it by itself. If I am not touching it, it falls apart, unless I am really concentrating on it."
"But... you picked those handcuffs right?"
"I had to hold the picks. I was touching it."
"Right... So... Could you make weapons? Like a sword or something?"
Robin sighed and sat back down, careful not to get her jeans wet with the water that was now on the bed.
"I... I could? I'm not sure. The most... 'deadly' thing I have created is a dart for my dart board back in my room. I had to really concentrate to make sure it didn't just dissolve in the air and on the board, but eventually, my focus would shift and it would fall apart, that's why my trash can was located under it. So my housemate wouldn't get suspicious or find out. No one knows except me, this place, and whoever gave me these powers," Robin looked down at her hands and noticed the slight shakiness to them.
Chase leaned against the bars and looked at her with a sympathetic gaze, "Do you remember much? From the people."
"I think that is the most frustrating thing. I don't! I can't! It drives me crazy! I... I remember small pieces, but it is like a dream... One that is so distant, you can't make it out. I feel like I could remember something, but my mind or my body doesn't allow me to, no matter how hard I try. All I get is little flashes that aren't enough and a splitting headache. I just... have learned to ignore it and forget about what I can't remember."
"Well... I heard that the MDA may use you to track down whoever did this to you and see how many other magics are the same way. Human experimentation is illegal, especially with magic. But you didn't hear that from me!" Chase quickly waved his hands.
Robin looked at him with a dead gaze, "Then who would I have heard it from?"
"A little birdy?"
Robin snorted, "That is so old fashioned and obvious."
Chase dramatically gasped and Robin jumped, "What?!"
"You... you laughed! The depressed, muffin-hating, magic girl can laugh!!"
Robin rolled her eyes, "Whatever."
"Agent Lockfeld..." a female voice spoke.
Chase turned around, "Yes...?"
"I am Agent Wisteria Mauryne. I need to speak to Miss Smith, bring her to interrogation room three," the female agent turned on her heel as Chase fumbled with his keys and unlocked the cell door.
"Who is she?" Robin asked as he led her down the hall past tons of people with business clothes. She suddenly felt another urge of discomfort as she realized ripped jeans and a tee aren't really worn here.
"No idea... Agent Mauryne I guess."
Chase opened the door to a room and Robin walked in and sat down. She sighed as the woman was scanning over some papers and didn't notice her. Wisteria had gorgeous chocolate skin with dark curly hair tied into a tight bun that was highlighted with a honey brown. She wore a red blouse that had ruffles on the collar and she had red heels that clicked as she tapped her heel under the table.
"Uh... excuse me?" Robin started, she had been there for a minute and this woman was still pouring over the papers.
Wisteria looked up, her eyes were large and were a warm honey color, she had dark freckles that were barely seen and small, pink lips that were in a small smile. Her eyes held an excitement that Robin was confused by. She smiled more as she held out her hand to Robin.
"Uh... what?" Robin hesitantly shook Wisteria's hand and was surprised by how smooth and gentle her hands were.
"Hi! I am so excited to tell you that you are the first Magic to be hired to help the MDA!"
Robin's eyes grew wide, "Excuse me!?!?"
