The Beginning Part V

As she ran the water for her bath, she thought of the roses that Allen had sent her. The flowers had changed her whole mood. Instead of worrying about what happened with her and Michael, she started to think of Allen. Niyah lit some candle and incense then got into the tub.

As the hot water relaxed her, she wondered what was really going on between them. He acts like Allen is a psychopath. It's one little date. His behavior wasn't normal. Why is he being a jerk? Niyah submersed her body into the water. I've never seen him like this before. I've never had a problem with the women he dates. She stuck her head in the water to drown out the sound of his voice.

She laid her head on the inflated pillow. The aroma of the incense started to do its job. She didn't want to think about anything other than her bath. She didn't want to think about her ex, who didn't want to be her ex or how her brother no longer wanted to be her brother. Niyah tuned out the sound of Michael and Emonie yelling. She closed her eyes, and for the first time in a while, her mind was clear. That is, until the way Michael had kissed her popped into her mind.

I wonder what it would've been like, if we would've made love. She was so relaxed, she started to fall asleep. I can't get the way he was drinking that Gatorade out of my head. The way the sweat shined on his chest, the way he licked his lips. She fell asleep, thinking of what might have been with Michael.

Niyah started to dream. It was the previous night. Michael grabbed her wrist and pushed her down on the sofa.

With his hands he parted her thighs. He wedged his pelvis between her legs.

"Look at me," Niyah looked into his eyes. "I've waited so long for this." He spoke softly into her ear. "I have something I want to give to you."

She heard the sound of a zipper being unzipped. She felt his erected penis rubbing against her thigh. He pushed his body back and forth against hers. Michael bit her on her neck, as he pushed himself inside her. That's when she heard a loud knock at her bathroom door.

"Niyah?!" Michael called her name from the other side of the door. "Niyah?!" He yelled louder.

She sat up and looked around. For the first few seconds, she was disorientated. Niyah realized she was home. Grabbing her head; she felt dizzy. She thought what happened was real. She felt Michael inside of her. It couldn't have been a dream.

"Damn, Niyah, do you hear me!" Michael screamed.

She jumped out of the water, grabbed her towel, wrapped it around herself, and went to the door.

"What is it?!"

She flung the bathroom door open with one hand and held the towel around her body with the other. Steam and the sweet smell of incense rushing out of the door hit him in the face. When he saw her, his expression changed. The hot water running down her legs and arms made her caramel skin look all the more seductive. Her hair was in a bun, with a few ringlets that framed her face. He was speechless as he watched the soapy water drip from her body.

"Michael?"

He still didn't respond. The reason he came to the bathroom eluded him. He was amazed by how sexy she looked.

"Hello?"

She let go of the doorknob and waved her hand in front of his face. Niyah turned around, blew out the candles and let the water out of the tub. She went to walk past Michael, when he grabbed her arm.

"What is this?" he asked.

"It's the card Allen sent with the flowers."

"Please don't do this. Allen isn't the kind of man you should get mixed up with, Rabbit." He was doing everything he could to convince her. "He's going to end up hurting you."

"I'm going on this date. The sooner you accept it, the better. Michael, you're acting as if I'm going to marry the man. It's one little blind date."

"You're thinking this is going to be one innocent date. Rabbit, that's where you're wrong, if Allen has set his sights on you, then it's going to be more than you've ever dreamed He's going to overwhelm you. Make you feel as if it's all about you."

"There's nothing I can do to stop it!" she yelled at him. He let go of her. "I don't know if I would stop it, if I could." She walked away.

He followed her. She wouldn't look him.

"What are you saying, Niyah? That you want to go out on this date?"

"Maybe."

He grabbed her wet shoulders.

"Why him and not me? You've known me for years. You don't even know him!"

"That's the reason! If I go out with Allen and he turns out to be an asshole, then it doesn't matter. If I go out with you and you break my heart, then things are never going to be the same. We have too much to risk!"

He let her go.

"When he breaks your heart, and I'm sure he will, I might not be here to pick up the pieces. Allen is going to hurt you. If you'll listen to me, you'll save both of us some misery." He picked up the card, handed it to her, and walked out of the room.

The phone rang.

"Hello."

"May I speak with Niyah?" a deep raspy voice asked.

"This is she."

"This is Allen Yoba. I've been trying to get in touch with you. Did you get the flowers?"
