Blind Date Part IV

Niyah stepped through the door, floating on cloud nine. It was 5:30am. She had no idea her date had lasted such a long time. It seemed as if they barely got started. She went straight to her room.

When she closed her bedroom door, Michael opened his. His chest flexed as he stood there, with only the bottoms to his pajamas on. He walked over to her door and stuck his ear to it.

She's humming, her date with Allen must've gone well. What time is it? He went into his room and looked at the clock. What the fuck! It's almost 6:00 in the fucking morning! She has been out with him all night! What in the hell were they doing? What if it's too late for us now?

He walked back to her door and started to knock. Niyah opened the door and ran into him. Niyah still looked amazing. He didn't say a word as he looked at her. He had no clue how beautiful she looked when she left. His heart stopped. She was shocked to see him standing there. Niyah felt as if she had been busted, sneaking into the house after curfew. The two of them stood there a moment, looking at each other. He shook his head and walked off.

"Please wait." Holding the hem of her dress in one hand, she went after him. Standing in front of him, she put her other hand on his chest to get him to stop. "What were you doing standing at my door?" She looked at him. "Have you been up all this time?" Michael didn't answer her. He tried to walk around her, but she wouldn't let him pass. "Answer me!"

He stepped closer to her. Their lips almost touched. She took a step back. He kept moving closer, until her back was against the wall. Michael stood in front of her. He bent down and smelled her. She dropped the hem of her dress.

"What are you doing?" She put both hands on his chest and tried to push him away. Michael wouldn't move.

"It's almost 6 in the morning and you're just coming home." He shook his head. "You did it, didn't you?" He touched the side of her face with the palm of his hand.

"What are you talking about?" She looked down at the floor. His voice was calm and mellow. The way he touched made her body tingle.

"Is this what his cologne smells like on you? Did you let him seduce you?" Michael took the red rose out of her hair.

"Nothing happened." She looked down at the floor.

"Why can't you look at me?"

"Michael, I didn't have sex with him."

"Why do you smell like his cologne?" He walked away from her, not giving her a chance to answer. She ran behind him and grabbed his colossal bicep.

"You have to believe me. Michael, nothing happened. We were dancing!" She tried to explain. "That's all."

"Tell me you're never going to see him again. You've fulfilled your promise to Emonie."

She let go of his arm and shook her head. She turned around and walked back towards her room. Michael stood there, watching until he heard her door close. He dropped the rose on the floor, went into his room, and slammed his door.

It was late when Niyah woke up the next morning. Her smile was immense as she lay in her bed, looking up at the ceiling. Her date with Allen was the first thing on her mind. She wondered what he was doing. Had he thought of her? When were the two of them getting together next?

She decided to go downstairs and get her morning cup of coffee. Michael was standing by the coffee maker, reading the paper. What was she going to say to him? She fixed her coffee and had a seat at the table. No one said anything.

Who would be the first to break the silence? Now that she had gone on the date, he knew it wouldn't be the last. Niyah knew she wanted to see Allen again. She would like to get to know him better, rather than go out with Michael. At this rate, they would never speak to each other again.

Michael peeked over his paper at her. Niyah was sitting there with a big smile on her face. He wanted to know what or who, put that smile there. This date with Allen would complicate things. Thus far, his theory was right.

I wonder how long this is going to go on. He hasn't even looked up from that paper once. She sighed, got up from the table, and went back to her room.

Allen had been more than kind. She knew she was attracted to him. That's where the enormous problem came in. He was someone she would love to see again. But how could she even attempt to see him when Michael felt the way he did? No way could they start any type of relationship, not while there was breath in Michael's body. Not to mention her parents. They had always wanted her and Michael to be together. The news of her going out with Allen wasn't going to sit well with them. This was a no win situation.
