Welcome back to Beat Reviews!

Today we have a wonderful book that will make you see something interesting, and it's truly worth to read if you are ready for it.

Wrengi is the first writer that has requested through the review book to do the review of his book, still it took a while to find out what BTS was. I admit it, I am not into music groups as much as I was back in 2010, so I was a bit out of the loop.

The book in my opinion is nice, but requires something more. Something to work around in the plot, there are parts that are just nice and all, but for the rest is absolute character development.

So yeah, it's going to be a nice one to talk about. Because has potential, and we can still make it great. Even as a fanfic, books can be done well if the execution is great.

So let's start with the stuff, because this score is going to be surprising. Because even being a fanfic, which some authors and readers dislike (not me), it's surprisingly better at one thing than the winners.

-Book name: Here or There

-Author name: wrengi

-Summary:

For the Kim friends, each day stretches out and beyond in an accustomed pattern of choice words: normal, simple, free, together. So when a maddening twist springs up right in their faces, they don't see it.

They don't notice, until it hits them square in the jaw, and it's almost too late.

...do you see it?

-Score:

PLOT: 10 out of 30 marks.

WORLD BUILDING: 0 marks out of 30 marks.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: 30 marks out of 30 marks.

GRAMMAR: 10 marks out of 10 marks.

TOTAL: PLOT+WORLD BUILDING+CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT+GRAMMAR= 40 Marks out of 100 marks.

-Verdict:

Wrengi, in your case, probably you have noticed if you read other reviews... Your book as of now is just character development, we don't know anything of the past life of the characters or how their life has made them be like they are.

And that's a thing you should do if you want the plot to be great. I would advise you to think in doing your own story instead of a fanfic. I see potential in you, capable of making a wonderful story. Far better than some winners.

I did enjoy this book back when I did read it, and I still enjoy it. I recall sending a good explanation over DM to Wrengi giving a small explanation of this review.

Plot:

The plot there are parts that it's awesome, like the look-alike arc as I call it (starts in the fourth chapter), with Seokjin recognizing the one that looks similar to him. But it certainly lacks something, and if you don't make some twist that makes the book more balanced... it will either become slice of life or be abhorrently stale.

And I didn't feel an angst that made me cringe, so I am grateful for that. But you can work this part rather well, and in fact it can become quite a good story.

World building:

In this case, it's non-existent... Which usually means that there's an issue with the story. In this case, the world building is more explaining the area around the BTS boys, setting us in the lives of the BTS boys and explaining a bit how they are and how they become the people they are now. And certainly it's not, I had to seek out what BTS was, I had to investigate a bit... So yeah.

Needs a lot of work there, to make us understand easily all the choices and preferences, and in fact probably it'd help so much with plot that probably would improve the score vastly.

Character Development:

This part was perfect, all the conversations were understandable. You can empathize with the characters themselves, and you even start understanding their personality. And this is an art that many try to do perfectly, and never can do it.

Afterword:

This book is the first example of 'even a fanfic can be great if you do an awesome work in execution'. Still, it's rather unbalanced. As a start of a book, it is good, but needs some work. Also, someone in the comments can say which is the lowest score I placed up to now in this review? I think this one is not the lowest score I placed, but then again, I did too many reviews that ended up in the trash bin because they were absolute zeroes (ain't going to make chapters of 500 words saying that they have an utter lack of everything).

And to be fair, the more it lacks without anything to grab unto... The smaller the chapters can become. Which sucks, and I am sure you can understand me, but that's the thing with reviews. If there's an absolute lack of something, you can't simply explain how to do something (specially since I am against mentorships, and double that going against mentorships when we have enough cases with 'experts' that do mentorships who love to forget the world building and never work upon it).

I see that Wrengi has the potential to be a great author, just needs to start in a true original story and work on his world building and plot making skills. Otherwise, he has everything he needs to start being a wonderful author.

I did enjoy the book a lot, and I have to admit it... I didn't expect this at first.

Next book:

Well, next book is Fake Me To Church of Bluejay! It will be released next week, and I am sure that you will like that book. And then after that one, following the order, it's going to be the last philosopher (and probably the last weekly chapter if things don't go well).

See you next time, which will be next week unless you are an RABP reader!
