"Winner has to be totally immobile, jaw on the neck," Christian said, arms crossed over his chest. Winnie could tell he was in Alpha mode which she liked.
Still, she thought Lex and Wilder fighting was dumb. It shouldn't matter who was stronger. They were going to get hurt.
"Don't go easy on me," Lex said. "Christian knows how you fight. He will call you out."
Wilder smirked, saying nothing back.
She sat unhappily in her chair, watching as the two shifted, their wolves squaring off. Wilder's wolf was way bigger than Lex's.
When Christian gave the go, it seemed they didn't waste any time getting on top of each other.
Winnie couldn't tell what was going on or if anyone was winning. There were growls and huffs and puffs. She really hoped no one was going to get hurt.
The longer she watched them roll around, the more she wanted to join them.
It was Wilder who got Lex down on his side first, but Lex kicked hard, rolling them back over.
Wilder thrashed around, but surprisingly couldn't get himself back up. Lex clamped on his neck.
Christian called it. Lex was the winner. Before they could shift back, Winnie shifted into her own wolf, trotting excitedly over to the wolf pile. She jumped on top of them both.
Lex growled playful, rolling her over like he did with Wilder, this time way more gentle. She nipped at him, pulling at some of his fur with her teeth.
Wilder shifted back, shrugging on some shorts and sitting next to Christian who had his laptop out now.
"That was surprising," Wilder said.
"It's usually the smaller wolf who has the advantage," Christian said. "Could you really not get back up?"
"Hell no," Wilder said. "He really had me down."
Christian chuckled, watching Winnie bite playfully at Lex.
"Hopefully it doesn't get to his head," Christian smiled. "I just don't want him questioning his strength or his place. He belongs here, with us."
Lex glanced up, listening to them talk. Wilder winked at him, and Lex didn't have a chance to do anything back before Winnie tackled him again.
