A Girl from a Strange Land: A Tuffnut Fanfiction

Chapter 3

When they arrive back at the Edge, Gothi is waiting for them. She looks at them, then at the girl, who has been bandaged up, and starts to write in the sand that Fishlegs had gave her before they had left. 

Fishlegs translates, "I have given her some herbs and bandaged her up. She is in a poor condition, and someone should stay with her for the night. I will check on her again tomorrow morning to see if she has gotten better. If anything happens, call for me immediately so that I may help."

The group looks at each other, and then Tuffnut says, "I'll stay."

This surprises the group to say the least. In their eyes, Tuffnut would probably be the last to voluteer to stay behind to babysit someone. 

"I was the one that found her, so it is my responsibility to watch over her." said Tuffnut.

"Ok. If anything, ANYTHING happens, shout for us. We will come running." said Hiccup, grabbing Tuffnut's left shoulder, giving it a firm squeeze. 

Hiccup, Stoick, Gothi and the rest of the gang head out to go to sleep. Tuffnut sits next to the mat, leaning on the wall behind him. This is the first time that he was able to properly see her features since he was in such distress earlier. He saw beautiful jet-black hair that beautifully reflected the light from the fire that was going in the center of the room. After a few hours, Tuffnut started to fall asleep, but was suddenly awoken by something that was nudging his leg. The girl's hand was nudging his leg, as if it was longing for something to grab a hold of. Tuffnut decided to place his hand close to hers, and her hand found its way to his. After a moment, she slowly slid her hand into his, and grasped it.

He soon felt something stirring in his stomach, at first he brushed it off as just being hungry. He soon fell asleep, and while his mind wandered, the feeling in his stomach started to grow. 

A sense of belonging. 

A sense of compassion. 

A sense of......love.
