A Girl from a Strange Land: A Tuffnut Fanfiction

Chapter 6

"ここはどこ?" asks the girl.

"What?" asked Hiccup, dumbfounded.

Gothi starts to write in the sand, and Fishlegs translates, "She only woke up a few minutes before you all arrived. She is still disoriented because she woke up in an unknown place. Be considerate of her."

Hiccup makes eye contact with the girl and says, "Can you speak our language?"

The girl thinks for a moment, before she says something,  "你好?"

"Are you trying out different languages by speaking in them to figure it out?" asks Hiccup.

She nods her head in a form of saying 'yes'.

"Ok, lets do this. And how many can you speak?" asks Fishlegs.

She writes down the number 50. Oy vey.

"Gaeilge?" (Irish?)

"No."

"Български?"(Bulgarian)?

"No."

"Русский?"(Russian?)

"No."

"Français?"(French?)

"No."

"український?"(Ukrainian?)

"No."

"Norsk?"(Norwegian)(technically vikings would speak Norwegian....)

"No. Wait YES!" exclaims Hiccup.

"Finally. I was worried that we would have to go through all 50 of them." says the girl, "Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Kiyomizu Kamiyama, but most people refer to me as Kiyo."

The group was..stunned, about her name. They had never heard a name quite like hers, because normally a name wouldn't be quite as long as hers is. 

"Umm....ok. Well, my name is Hiccup Haddock, and I am the leader of the Dragon Riders." says Hiccup, motioning to the rest of the teenagers next to him. Kiyo looks around at the differnet people, before her eyes land back on Hiccup, making eye contact with him. She stares at him for a minute before saying, "You look very similar to my older brother, except he has black hair."

"Oh, that's cool that I look like him. For now, you can stay here until we can get you back to where your family is." says Hiccup.

"That would be a good idea, since I have no idea where I am. If I can look at the map from my ship, I will be able to figure out where I am."

"Oh, we actually found that map and we will take you there, since we didn't want to damage it." says Fishlegs, who Kiyo looks at very confused on who he is. "Right, my name is Fishlegs Ingerman.", and puts out his hand, which she shakes. 

"Let's get to the boat. I am really concered that if I am gone for too long then my family might try to wage war on the others to find out where I am. They are very protective of me." says Kiyo. 

"Right."
