Finding a job was a lot harder than I expected. No, I didn't expect a job to just go poof and land on my lap, but I didn't think it would be this hard! A big city, and still, no options in sight. The jobs that were hiring were god-awful, and I would have rather been unemployed than have them.

Along with that, I felt worthless around the apartment. I needed to start helping out as much as I could."Maybe you can just be our maid," Chris chuckled. I thought about it, it wasn't too terrible. But it wasn't like the boys were slobs, I still wouldn't have felt like much help.

"I don't know, still feels like you guys are carrying my weight."

"Yeah," Oliver scoffed, "and it's damn heavy." I rolled my eyes and glared at him, he was such a douche.

"He's just mad because you have your big date tonight," Christ laughed. "You look gorgeous by the way." Again, Oliver scoffed, but I chose to ignore it. He had been acting like this a lot lately, and I shouldn't have let it bother me. I smiled at Chris, at least he was kind to me. I did feel pretty though, and Chris saying that made me feel even better.

I had called Nate a few days after we ran into each other. Oliver had protested, even taking my phone a few times, but I still won. "You'll have to invite him inside, he needs to be approved by your big brothers!" Chris winked at me, and Oliver again snottily rolled his eyes.

"It's already a no from me, because-"

Three knocks at the door. I look at Chris, who smiles, then goes to the door. I began to feel really nervous, my hands were sweating, my heart was racing. What if he thought I was weird? Or if he judged me? Did I smell?! Did my hair look nice?! "You look pretty," Oliver mumbled quietly, "but keep sweating and you'll look like a swine."

Before I could even register that half compliment, Nate and Chris walked in. "She's in here with Oliver, but you already know him." Oliver just glared. Why was he such a brat?

"Yes, we have uh... Met before," his eyes transitioned to me. "Hey, Ellie, ready to go?"

I smiled as I got back into the apartment. Tonight had been really nice. He had been a pure gentleman the whole time, and he was so much fun to be around. Everything went as planned. I took my shoes off and made my way to the kitchen.

"Well?" I heard Oliver's voice from behind me. What the heck was he doing up? I turned and looked at him. Why God why? Oliver, again shirtless and beautiful, leaning against the wall. My stomach flipped just at the sight of him. I knew my face was getting red.

"Well what?" I tore my eyes away from his body.

"How was your date?" He didn't sound very nice asking that question, in fact, he sounded pretty grumpy. Had I woken him up? Was that the problem? It was pretty late, probably 12 o'clock at least. Nate and I had gone to dinner and after that gone for a walk.

"It was good... Can I ask why you sound like an overprotective dad?" I scoffed, "Did I wake you up or something?" Oliver rolled his eyes and shook his head, the sass was real.

"Actually, no, I waited around for you to get back. Y'know, just making sure he didn't rape you or anything. Sorry that I cared." He sounded like he was getting angrier, then closed his eyes and took a breath in. I knew he was mad, but looking at him he just kept getting hotter and hotter. I also felt kind of bad, if that was really the reason he stayed up, that was kind of sweet.

"Yeah, okay. Well, you can go to bed now."

"You don't get it, do you?"

"What are you talking about?"

Oliver rubbed his temples and continued to shake his head. "This guy only wants you for sex, Ellie. Then he'll throw you away like trash. I've seen guys like him before."

I wasn't about to believe Oliver for a second, but I was still curious. Why was he so hung up on this guy? Nate was really sweet, and even Chris said he sounded nice from what I had said. Oliver was probably just mad because Nate had called him out on his immaturity. And it was true, Oliver acted like a nine year old kid.

"Oliver, you don't even know him. He's really nice to me, he treated me like a princess! And not once did he try anything. If you ask me, you're just mad about what he said at McDonald's."

Oliver turned to walk back the hall, so I also turned away from him, going to the kitchen. He was such a little kid, it made me so mad. It was either his way, or no one's way. Why did he have to act like that all the time? How in the world did Chris deal with this crap all the time?

"Ellie," I stopped when I heard his voice again, "a lot of guys would be lucky to have you, he's not the only one who would treat you like a princess. It's what you deserve, I know that for a fact. But this guy, he's- he's just not right. Night."
