You never felt more embarrassed in your life..your date had the nerve to stand you up and not even bother to send you an apology or an excuse at least. It had been fifteen minutes since he was supposed to be here and you were starting to get pity looks from everyone in the restaurant and it made you want to disappear into the floor right there.
"Hey sweetie, I have to give you about ten more minutes before I have to ask you to leave." The waitress as you nodded your head barely holding onto the tears that were slipping from your eyes.
You take one last sip of your drink and were about to ask for the check when you saw your friend Cody walk in and press a kiss to your cheek before sitting down.
"I'm so sorry my love, traffic was crazy, and then I forgot my phone charger at work so I couldn't text to let you know that I was running late." He said as you sat there in shock.
"Just go along with it, Liv filled me in on what happened. Your date is a total dick for standing you up, so let me try to turn this night around for you." He asked reaching for your hand as you allowed yourself to lace your hand with his.
So there you sat talking and catching up with each other for the next hour and a half and to the people around you, it looked like you two were a happy couple if only that were true.
"I'm not ready for this night to end, why don't we leave this place and continue this night?" He asks you.
"I would love that." You said with a smile as he called for a check.
Once the bill was settled, you two headed out and just started walking and the conversation kept flowing between you two and it made you wish that this was an actual date and not a pity one since you were stood up.
"Sir, would you care to buy a rose for the beautiful lady?" A guy carrying a basket of roses asked and Cody said yes before you could protest.
"Here you deserve all the roses in the world, I'll just have to remember to bring some next time." He said making you look at him confused.
"Next time?" You asked.
"Yeah, next time...or at least I'm hoping there's gonna be a next time...I really like you and tonight is one of the best dates I've had in a while. So do you think I can take you out on a proper date?" He asked.
"I was hoping you asked that." You admitted shyly.
"Is that so?" He asked with a smirk.
"Yeah, I was worried that this whole time my feelings were one-sided and that this was just a pity date." You said.
"Neither of those things are true, I was more than happy to come to your rescue once Liv told me because I figured it would give me a chance to show you how you deserve to be treated, and hopefully it would make you consider going out with me." He said.
