Chapter 33

 Amber's perspective

I sit in the dining hall with Daddy waiting for everyone else to arrive for the meeting. Somehow they're all late.

Vivian comes in first. She sits down quietly at the far end of the table. Hildegard And Cleo flounce in together. Desmond comes running in.

" Des? What are you doing here?"I'm surprised to see him. He's wearing a dark blue suit. And for the first time, his hair is disheveled. A testament to how fast he came. Though it is out of character for him it's cute.

"Desmond's parents enter the room."Your dad summoned us for the war meeting. It is nice to see you through."Desmond was looking at his feet for the last bit. He stared up at me through his eyelashes.

I smile at him. " I wish it were under better circumstances."

" Me too." Des slides into the chair next to me.

"Where are the rest of my children and Hugo?" My dad seems angry. He doesn't like To wait. Also this is an urgent situation and action needs to take place.

The East door bursts open and James comes running in with a tear-streaked face. He runs directly to Vivian and grabs her shoulders. Forcing her to look at him.

"Oh, Vivian I'm so sorry. It's not what you think. I was the kissy here not the kisser. I would never hurt you. I love you. What Cleo did was mean and wrong and I'm sorry. Please believe me, you have to believe me! I can't lose you."James gently shook Vivian's shoulders.

" James. What are you talking about?" Vivian's voice is strangely calm.

"What do you mean? You saw the whole thing? You ran out of the room crying. I chased you. I've been looking everywhere for you."

Cleo lifts her hand and cuts into their conversation."James I never kissed you. I mean I like you and all, but your Vivian's boyfriend why would I do that. She's like one of my best friends."

"But you? And you? You were there?"James points to Cleo first and then Vivian.

"Cleo was in my bedroom for the past 2 hours.You are clearly ridiculous utterly ridiculous."Hildegard spoke up.

The west door pushed open.In a days Hugo walks out and takes a seat.

"Where have you been?"I questioned him. Why is he so late. I specifically told him.

"I don't remember."Hugo puts his head in his hands

"You don't remember what spit it out."I say annoyed. Flicking my fingernails.

"I don't remember. I was walking to the infirmary with Sophia and then."Hugo put his head in his hands. Clearly he's drawing a blank.

Mr. Cedric burst through The North Door carrying a pile of papers. " Your majesty! Your majesty!"Cedric drops all the papers on the floor and Hurriedly pick them up.

" Yes Cedric?" My dad looks irritated now.

" As you are aware part of my job as Royal wizard of Enchancia is to monitor Powerful spells. "

"Get to the point Cedric."My father interrupts.

"There have been 4 spells of the highest caliber cast unauthorized in the past hour!"

"Everyone gasps in shock."

"You better inspect James and Hugo then. I fear They've been hit."My father stands.

"Come with me children."Mr. Cedric still calls us Children Even though we're nearly adults now.

Mr. Cedric only motions for James and Hugo to follow him but everyone stands up. Together we all race to the Royal Wizards Tower. Mr Cedric frantically pulls out strange vials and jars.

After a few moments he pulled out his wand. He throws the powder on the wand and a aims it at the two boys.

Above Hugo's head is a symbol of 2 people then one of the people disappears. Above James's head is a symbol of a cloudy eye.

" Prince James it is appears that somebody has cast seeame spell On You. Basically you saw an illusion of your worst nightmare."Cedric quickly turned away from James and gives his full attention to Hugo.

" Prince Hugo you unfortunately have a more powerful spell cast on you. It's a Minor mind control spell. It still takes a lot of force to counteract.

" Mind control? What did I do!"Hugo looks horrified.

" Unfortunately I cannot answer that question."Mr. Cedric shrugs.

"How did mr. Cedric even know The Spells were cast?"

" All magic spells have a magical by product. If the power is a powerful enough They can trigger a pre registered monitor."Desmond whispers to me.

" This only accounts for two of the four spells." Des Pipes up. He has a point.

Phasing out of the portrait of Cedric's parents come his mother and father.

"The other two spells would be a teleportation spell. And a very powerful attack spell."

"But who cast the Spells and who are they attacking?"Desmond rubs his chin.

"Has anyone seen Sophia!"Prince Hugo sounds panicked as his eyes go wide.
