Amber's perspective

After a long examination by the castle, physicians were all sent to the family room for relaxation. The Cherry yellow curtains and mahogany floors are familiar. The room is warm and cozy because there's a fire in the fireplace. The scent of homemade chocolate chip cookies wafts over from where they're placed on the table. I don't have the energy to go over.

I sink down into the plush sofa in front of the fire and struggle to stay awake blinking my heavy eyelids. Desmond confidently strides over and sits next to me. His blue suit wrinkled. I leaned over from where I set and wrap my arms around his torso. I put my head on his chest and lean him back so that he's lying down on the couch. I don't know what his cologne is but whatever it is it smells good.

" You saved us today," I tell him my voice filled with admiration.

" I couldn't let her hurt my girl."Desmond's hand comes up and strokes my hair. I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up the fire is out and it was dark.

I'm moving and surprisingly I'm not cold. I take a deep breath in and suddenly I know exactly where I am. Desmond's cologne and the warmth of his arms reassure me that I'm safe. Moments later my skin touches the soft sheets of my bed and the comforter is lovingly tucked around my shoulders. I wait for a moment. I wonder if he'll kiss my forehead? The silence stretches out before me and then I hear my door open. The door doesn't close. I wonder if Desmond is standing in the doorway.

My answer comes when he whispers something to me. "I love you, Amber."Then the soft click of the door and the sound of his footfalls slipping further and further away.

 HUGFIA A parallel universe story

Sofia transferred to the Corinthian School sports within one week of attending Everrealm Academy.

I love the Corinthian School of sports. So much more fun than the stuffy work we did at Everrealm Academy I couldn't stand it and skipped out after a week. That didn't make Amber to happy but I have a backbone. Everything went really well for me at the Corinthian Sports School until 2 months after my birthday. Let me tell you what happened.

The second month of school

As I'm walking down the hall I tighten my ponytail then I get lost in thought. Everyone is so competitive and yet we're able to leave the competitiveness on the field when it's time for class and lunch. I have a lot of friends there. Including Prince Hugo who was my ready-made friend from Royal Prep. We're taking Magiccology together. I love sports but magic is so interesting too.

Between being a derby team, Ice dancing, and our elective. We spend a lot of time together. It's become difficult to hide my many secrets from him. I have to skip out on him so much for story keeping and protector work. Maybe I should just tell him. He's my best friend.

I brush my bangs out of my face as I walked toward the cafeteria. I carry my bagged lunch to the far side of the dining hall the table is by a big window overlooking the flying derby track. I sit next to my friend princess Genevieve. Genevieve has long honey gold hair and has a preference for rose-colored everything. You can tell just by looking at her outfit.

Genevieve is an excellent equestrian and she's on the dance team. She sucks at ice dancing though. What she loudly laments about every time she lands on her rear end.

At the Corinthian School of sports, we are taught every sport. We can choose to focus on one or two but the faculty want us well-rounded.

Hugo plunks down on my other side simultaneously stealing one of my tater tots."Sup Sof." Sof is the nickname only Hugo and my family use.

" Hey," I say glaring at him. He shrugs and opens up his own lunch. I just roll my eyes.

"So I'm going over to your place on Saturday to finish our magicology project?"

"No fair. You guys always get to team up. Even when it's not free choice. It's like the teachers have accepted that you are an inseparable team."Joffrey the Duke of Freezinberg says before taking an indignant bite of his sandwich. " I got stuck with Ethel." The dark-haired pale-skinned boy sticks out his tongue.

"Hey, Ethel's my friend." Genevieve defensively says hands on her hips.

" So she has a crush on me and it's creepy."Joffrey rolls his eyes before taking another bite of his sandwich.

"Cool it you two let me enjoy my lunch in peace," Hugo speaks the harsh words but his eyes are lasered in on his pasta.

"You're not my dad."Joffrey says in a dua of voice."

I take this opportunity to snatch Hugo's pasta.

" Hey give that back." Hugo lunges for it but I hold it in the air. He lunges again but I pull back. After his third attempt at retrieving his lunch, I finally yealed. Laughing all the while.

At Sophia's house after school working on the project.

I stand on the castle front steps waiting for Hugo to arrive just like always. And just like always right on time Hugo's Carriage pulls up. Out of the ordinary though Hugo isn't the only one in the carriage his parents decided to take a long. That's never happened before.

"Good afternoon your Majesty's." I curtsy.

" Good afternoon darling Sofia." Hugo's mother Smiles at me as she returns my curtsy.

" Don't worry we won't Shadow you kids as you do your homework we just came to have a conversation with your father."

" Oh, I believe he's in his study." I offer the information hoping it to be helpful.

" Thank you, Sophia. We will see you, kids, later." King garrick kpets my head as he walks by.

Hugo stands there looking embarrassed.

" Let's get going on that project. I wink at him and make my way inside.

An hour later we have half the project done. The project is to construct a working vehicle Using only plants and magic. We have the main structure of our carriage but we still need to do the wheels. Our vehicle will need to traverse an obstacle course in order for us to pass the semester.

"Hey, Hugo do you want to take a break?"

" Sure my brain is dead."Hugo Flops back on my bed and dramatically over his face. I laugh at him. He's kind of cute. This thought catches me off-guard and I stiffen automatically.I've been fighting these feelings ever since going to the Corinthian School sports. I don't want to fall victimto his charms and become another one of his fangirls.

"Sof you said you had something you wanted to tell me?"Hugo props himself up on his elbows to make eye contact with me.

"When did I say that?" My mind goes blank as I'm caught off guard again.

" Friday at our lockers you said you wanted to explain the secrecy. I mean You can't just leave a guy hanging like that. I'm very curious as to what you meant.
