Chapter XII - The Tiger and the Lilly

It was starting to rain, yet again, and there was a thunderstorm that was occurring in Japan. However, it was a really strong thunderstorm, and the diary holders knew what that meant. For the diary holders, it meant that the survival game had started on this day. The date? The date is 12 November, 4 days before Yuno's birthday, as well as 6 days before Edwin's birthday. "Has it started? Well then, game on.", were the words of Edwin. "It's about time, I hope we can survive.", were the words of Yuno. Yukiteru let out a soft sigh, and said, "Eddie, Yuno, please protect me. I don't want to get hurt." 
"Neither of us knows what happens next.", were the words of an unknown voice in the dorm. Edwin then asked, "Excuse me. Who are you?" The lady then said, "I'm Seisui Amano. My nickname is Shoyo. I'm Yukiteru's stepmother. I am around 43 years of age, but I hope that's not an issue." "Ah, nice to meet you, Mrs. Amano. I'm Yuki's friend, Edwin Nakamoto. My nickname is Eddie, given to me by Yuki's significant other, Yuno Gasai.", said Edwin. "Ah, I've heard about her, she went through a so-called "transitional stage" or something like that? She looks so different compared to her younger self.", said Seisui. 

(Seisui is a Misato Katsuragi reference, who is from Neon Genesis Evangelion, or simply called Evangelion. She'll be present throughout the rest of this chapter and the rest of the story.)

"Yes, I agree. Also, happy birthday, by the way.", said Yukiteru, wishing their (Notice the pronoun change? Yukiteru now uses They/Them pronouns.) Stepmother happy birthday. "Thank you, my son. I heard your mother isn't around anymore, and I understand what happened to her. I know your dad loved her, but I was also your dad's friend. Your mother gave me permission to marry him, and to be your stepmother, Yuki. Remember?", said Seisui. "I know...out of everyone in my family, you and Mikey visit me. Do you and Mikey live with each other?", asked Yukiteru.
 
"Mikey lives with me since unfortunately, he's now struggling with buying a house because he has way too many tattoos. I'm trying my best to help him, but can you ask Eddie to help us out with our money situation?", asked Seisui. Yukiteru nodded and went to find Edwin, who was in their room. Yukiteru then knocked on the door, then Edwin asked, "What is it? I'm busy." Yukiteru then asked, "Hey Eddie, my stepmother wants me to ask you to help out with the money situation the Amano family has...specifically, my mother was the only one that had the money to buy Mikey a house, but she passed away a while back, so my stepmother was gifted her money. However, she said she wants help from you." Edwin then responds with, "I'll be nice enough to help her with the money. I'll ask my mother if she can help." Yukiteru then went to their stepmother and said, "They said they'll help us. They'll also ask their mother. If you're not familiar with their mother, she's Ciel Norman, basically Eddie's mother who gives them advice on everything. Also, their mother is rich as well."

"You do not have to worry, I've heard of their mother on a few occasions. I've read some of her mangas before, and they're very unique. I hope Eddie takes on the manga artist career.", said Seisui. "I hope they do as well...it really suits them very well. I'm hoping they take writing as something they can cherish since their mother took it as an opportunity to do something she hasn't done before." , said Seisui. Then Edwin receives a phone call from their mother, which they answer. To Edwin's surprise, they have received word that the planned marriage that Ciel was having, had failed. So instead of Ciel marrying Minene's dad, Ciel instead decides to pack up everything, including Edwin's old belongings, and moves into the Amano household, which Edwin quickly receives word of via a text message from their mother. 

Ciel's text message reads as follows: "Hey, the planned marriage I was supposed to have? Yeah, that unfortunately failed. So, I'm changing plans. Meet me at the Amano household later since I moved there. Yuki's dad has already greeted me with a warm welcome. I already locked the old house, so it's no longer accessible. In case you want to visit me, I'll be waiting for you. - Your Mother."

"She...she moved into your house, Seisui?", Edwin exclaims, being nervous as to reading the text message prior. Seisui then reads the text message and then proceeds to text Ciel if she has moved into the Amano household. She then gets word back from Ciel, to which Seisui then tells Edwin, "Yes, I'm aware of her moving into our household. Eddie, you're apart of the Amano household now, since your mother has decided to move in. We'll treat you with respect as well. In the Amano household, it's respect that comes first. In case you need our help, we will be waiting for you. Understood?" "Yes, I'll need your help whenever I need it. I understand..." 

That evening, Seisui ended up going back to the Amano household, and her new husband, Leon Amano (A reference to Shinji Ikari from Evangelion), was already giving Ciel a room for her to sleep. Leon then asks Seisui, "Where's Ciel's child?", to which Seisui responded, "They're in their dorm, which is not far from here. Do you want to meet them?" Leon nodded, and Seisui decided to call Edwin. "Oh, I'll meet you there.", and Edwin hangs up the phone, then rushes out of the dorm, and walks to the Amano household. 

Edwin then knocks on the door of the Amano household, to which Seisui opens the door for Edwin to come in. Edwin then asks, "So...who exactly is wanting to meet me?", they ask, to which Leon then says, "I did. My name is Leon Amano, Seisui's husband. I allowed your mother to stay here since you were the one who helped her with the last house you and your mother owned. I'll give you a room as well, since your mother asked for one for her and one for you since she requested a room for you. It's an honour to meet you, Edwin." "Nice to meet you too, Mr. Amano.", they politely responded. "It seems that you have taken an interest in writing...how convenient. Writing is more than just a hobby, it can be a career of some sort. Whatever you might feel like writing, it can probably be your friend depending on how you write your stories.", said Leon, without any sort of emotion coming from him. "Oh, I also want to say, my pronouns are They/He. That's all.", were some more words from Leon. 

"Oh, I see...wait, what's this?", Edwin asked, to which they then received a text message from an unknown number, which reads as follows:

"Hello, I uh, I think I have the right number. Anyway, pleased to meet you. My name is Akari Amano. I'm the 3rd child of the Amano household. Before you ask where I am, I'm currently living in Korea on a business trip, but I will return to Japan. I'm 18, by the way. I have no intentions on wanting to be in a relationship with anyone, other than that friend of yours, isn't their name Makoto or something? They seem nice enough. Anyway, I'm honoured to have your number saved because my mother, Seisui, gave it to me. P.S I'm willing to meet you if  Yuzuha will let me meet you. Thank you and have a good day! - Akari"
