The choir could not save me tonight
My kick drum heart has failed
The melody doesn't seem quite right
The sound is cold and stale
My friend could not save me tonight
Blinded by her bliss
There's so much war behind my eyes
I thought she couldn't miss
My pen could not save me tonight
It was running out of ink
The pages of my book were full
My thoughts: a kitchen sink
I couldn't save myself tonight
Fighting my silver friend
Pretty highways on my arm
And capsules meant the end.
Tonight I'll view a different scene
Tonight I'll count the stars
I'll be a floating consciousness
Among the passing cars
The pale light in the apartment
Will be my new found home
Never will my sore feet step
But always will I roam
It's strategic, it's straightforward
It's much easier this way
There's nobody to miss me
There's no reason I should stay
So to my slightly broken friend
Don't let this flood your mind
Don't bother buying tissues
Darling you will be just fine.
