Sometimes I find that looking back
Hurts more than the pain today
Sometimes I enter the gentle void
And hope it goes away
Of course it won't but one can hope
When all is said and done
Others won't make my mistake
And fly too close to the sunI'm sorry my hopes met higher ground
You don't want me by your side
I thought you'd need some company
For this horrific ride
But you were sailing through the
mirror
You had no knife or gun
I was no hero, more a fool
I flew too close to the sunUpon my wings I felt the heat
It warmed my heart and soul
But realization hit me
And the bright orb took its toll
The melting wax dripped off my wings
I could not scream or run
And as I fell I finally knew
I flew too close to the sunCrashing towards my deep blue grave
I saw you in the trees
You smiled at me with pity eyes
As I fell into the sea
Please don't waste your apology
I've lost and you have won
I recognize my weaknesses
I flew too close to the sun
