I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off in my ear. I'm usually sluggish in the morning, but I make haste to be rid of that annoying sound. I groan, roll over on my back and just stare up at the ceiling. Today's the day... my parents are really sending me off to boarding school. I reach over to grab my phone and see that it's 5:32am. I'm about to send a message in our group chat when a text from JJ comes in.

    JJ

I'm up 30 minutes ahead of schedule. If that's not dedication, then I don't know what is. And you had no faith in me.

    Kie

Okay okay, I see you being all responsible for once. The little baby is finally growing up.

    JJ

And the insults just keep coming. Aren't you supposed to be all emotional and shit with you leaving today?

    Kie

Fuck you.

    JJ

Just say when and we can make it happen, princess (;

    Kie

Pope already beat you to it and that's enough for me. No more sleeping with pogues. Besides it's not like you have any shortage of girls willing to help you out.

    JJ

You're right. You know me... one and done.

    Kie

Asshole. See you later, don't be late.

I sit up in bed and stretch as a yawn comes over me. I get up and walk over to my suitcase, making sure I have everything packed. I go into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I head downstairs to fix me a bowl of cereal and wait for my parents to wake up. As I'm putting the last bite in my mouth, I get a facetime call from Sarah.

"Today's the day, how are you feeling?"

"I feel like I want to go back to sleep and not wake up until it's summertime."

"Don't be so dramatic Kie, you're dreading it now but you'll soon see the bright side."

"And what's this 'bright side' you speak of?"

"Well for starters, you'll be around a shit ton of hot guys. That'll surely make your time there more enjoyable."

"Don't you have a boyfriend? Should I warn John B?"

She laughs and says, "You know I only have eyes for one guy. We're practically married."

"You guys better not be 'legally' married by the time I get back. I don't want a mini John B anytime soon. We still have college to think about ya know."

"Don't worry Kie, we're in no hurry to rush things. We have talked about getting a dog though."

"Good luck with that. John B can barely take care of himself and you want to add a dog to the mix?" I just smile and shake my head.

"Dogs are so cute and cuddly and make everything better. Plus, we'll share the load so it won't be all on him. But I'm going to finish getting ready so I can make my way to you. Love you, see you soon."

"Love you, bye."

After she hung up, I sit my phone on the counter and go wash out my bowl. A few minutes later I hear someone coming down the stairs and I look up to see that it's my dad. I give him a smile that he returns.

"Goodmorning babygirl, how are you feeling?"

"I'm as good as I can be considering."

"I know you don't like it, but your mom has her mind set on this. I couldn't talk her out of it even if I tried. You're a lot like her believe it or not. When you both have your mind set on something that's it. Nothing can change your mind."
