Chapter 11

A little later Sarah suggests we play Never Have I Ever. We all gather around with our beers and Sarah starts us off. "Never have I ever had a one-night stand." John B and JJ are the only two to drink. We all knew J did this but Sarah eyes John B curiously.

"It was my first time. It's not a big deal." he says with a shrug

"Never have I ever slept with my best friend." John B mutters. I look at Pope and we both take a drink of our beer.

"Never have I ever spent the night in jail." Pope says. John B tries to drink discreetly.

"Never have I ever kissed my best friend." I say with a smirk. John B drinks yet again.

"Are you guys all coming for me tonight or what?" John B mutters

"Who did you kiss John B?" Sarah asks him.

"Kie. But it didn't mean anything, I was just in the moment, and it happened."

"It was before you joined the group. I shut him down really quick after that." I say laughing at the memory.

"Never have I ever dated a kook." JJ says unexpectedly.

Of course, Sarah drinks and then I try to take a sip undetected. But they notice me anyway. I put my hands over my face for a second and then say, "Don't judge me. It was during my kook year and it was very short. Sarah knows who it was but I trust her not to spill the beans... right Sarah?"

"My lips are sealed." she says mimicking zipping her lips

We play for a few more rounds and then decide to stop for now. Pretty soon we make our way inside the Chateau. I grab another beer and join them in the living room. I plop down between Pope and JJ. "So Pope, tell us more about this Cleo girl."

He states with a smile on his face, "She's a total badass. She's independent and doesn't take anyone's shit."

"How did you two meet?" Sarah asks

"She works in a convenience store her grandma owns and I walked in on her telling this kid off who was trying to steal some Cheetos. She reminded me of JJ a little bit so I knew she would fit right in with us."

"I can't wait to meet her," I say with a smile.

"It's getting late guys. I'm going to turn in for the night." John B states standing

"I'm going to join him." Sarah adds

"I'll get going as well. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Pope exclaims

That just leaves me and JJ. I don't know if I should be alone with him right now after what happened earlier. I can't help that I'm attracted to him, but I'll have to do a better job at not folding so quickly. I have to make him work for it.

"Are you tired Kie?" he asks

"No, but I should get some rest soon."

"I want to ask you something."

I make eye contact with him, "What is it?"

"Who was the kook you dated?"

"It doesn't matter J. It was so brief I honestly forgot about it until it was brought up."

"How come you never tell us about your kook year?"

"What is there to tell? I don't fit in with them, I never have. I wasn't happy until I met you guys."

"You never told me that you and John B kissed." he says glancing at me

"It didn't mean anything. He was just really vulnerable at the time and read the situation wrong."
