Guilt. What a terrible feeling. It shames the soul and befouls the mind. How is one able to clean itself from such stain, once it made a permanent mark? Addison spent several restless nights thinking of ways to cleanse her soul from guilt's dark shade on her. But no matter how many showers she took, how many cleansing juices she consumed, or how many wrongs she tried to fix, she still felt dirty. Guilty.

It all started when she was just a child. Bizzy had found broken pieces of one of her finest china plates adorning the insides of their kitchen trash can. While practicing her golfing skills inside her lavish home, Addison accidentally hit and destroyed her mother's collection of plates. The fear of Bizzy's rage against her, made her blame the housekeeper for her wrongdoing. That simple lie got her housekeeper fired immediately without a chance for explanation. The following nights, Addison was haunted by nightmares about the situation. Such torment broke her until she eventually confessed the truth to her mother. She swore she'd always do the right thing, so she never had to feel that agony again. But the older she got, the harder it became to keep the promise.

The feeling came around again when she had to cover for her dad-The Captain-and pretend she knew nothing of his affairs with multiple women. The guilt of lying to Bizzy tormented her day and night. It made the stain on her soul even bigger, and her shame even stronger. She swore to herself not to follow in her father's footsteps. His careless actions were not ones Addison wished to carry on her DNA. Loyalty was her religion, she did not plan to be like her dad or her brother (who was weak enough to follow the Capitan's example).

Nonetheless, life is a cruel game that likes to bite you in the ass and make you forget all about what you once preached. Addison's marriage went down the same drain her parents had. Only Derek was nothing like her mother Bizzy, he did not overlook Addison's infidelity to maintain their so-called "perfect marriage." Once he found her with Mark on their king-size bed, tangled in each other's bodies, he was gone. Addison stayed behind with the shade of guilt overshadowing her, ripping her apart. Her 'perfect' life had been destroyed like her mother's china, again, by her own doing.

Now, she no longer tried to cleanse herself with any stupid methods she had tried in the past. Guilt was now a part of her daily life; the promise she made to herself as a young kid never got truly respected. Addison seemed to always manage to get involved in unfortunate situations. Her carelessness for it almost seemed intentional, and not accidental. Almost as if she couldn't help herself but choose misery over happiness. Perhaps, she was some sort of masochistic creature that needed to feel pain, to feel alive. Otherwise why the hell did her heart beat a little faster at the sight of the young intern, whose blue eyes and honey-like hair, never left her mind?

It had been approximately 8 hours since Meredith last saw the woman who stole her precious sleep. Once her alarm signaled that it was time to get up, Meredith almost jolted out of bed. Suddenly, it had been too long of a wait to see the redhead again. Meredith's eyes yearned to see Addison's face again. That beautiful face took her breath away even when she first met her all those months ago.

Adrenaline flowed through her veins as she got ready for the long day ahead of her. Her silky hair was suddenly undergoing the damaging process of being shaped into curls by a curling iron. The lack of practice resulted in two minor burns, and uneven curls. She's never worried about her looks before, not even with Derek. However, that changed as soon as the redhead appeared. She started by wearing a different shade of lipstick every day. After a while, she opted to add a bit of color to her cheeks. Then, a few strokes of mascara on her already curled lashes became a daily ritual.
