on the first day of their 7th year, the marauders pulled the biggest prank of their lives, which went against every rule in Hogwarts and would probably get them expelled. Minerva saw them setting it up but didn't say anything. Just then, filch walked in on them unscrewing a chandelier, but luckily Minerva distracted him. The marauders were forever grateful.
before leaving Hogwarts, Sirius asked peeves to keep up their pranks, which Minerva overheard.
This is why, in the Order of Pheonix, when peeves tried unscrewing the chandelier to prank unbridge, Minerva helped him by saying "it unscrews the other way." she was reminded of the students she had once look after as if they were her children.
