Stepping into his office, one would be immediately greeted by an ambiance that exuded both intellectual curiosity and a sense of order. The space was meticulously organized, with every item in its designated place.
Bookshelves lined the perimeter, filled to the brim with an extensive collection of books on criminology, psychology, law, and other related subjects.
The spines of the books displayed a vast array of titles, ranging from classic texts to the latest research publications, a testament to Jongsuk's deep knowledge and commitment to staying current in his field.
A large wooden desk dominated the center of the room, meticulously arranged with stacks of papers and files of case studies with a mixture of his student's work.
The surface of the desk was cluttered, yet purposefully so, reflecting the lecturer's ongoing research and dedication to their work. A desk lamp casts a warm glow upon the scattered papers, creating an inviting space for study and contemplation.
Jongsuk's sense of urgency propelled his movements. He quickly made his way to his desk, intending to grab his coat and keys in response to the urgent text he had received.
However, before he could even reach for his belongings, a gentle knock resonated through the room, causing him to pause.
He turned around to see Sungmi, standing in the doorway with a coy expression on her face. Jongsuk's mind was preoccupied with the pressing matter at hand, but he acknowledged her presence with a polite nod. "Sungmi, what can I do you for?"
"Mr Lee, I just wanted to apologize for my friends and my behaviours during class," Sungmi began, her voice tinged with fabricated remorse. "We were disrespectful, and I feel terrible and a bit embarrassed about it. I would like to make it up to you." She said closing the distance between the two.
Jongsuk knew that Sungmi's willingness to apologise was just for show, and the urgency of the text message prevented him from engaging in wanted lengthy conversations. He offered her a small smile, though his eyes betrayed his distracted state.
Jongsuk cleared his throat "I appreciate your apology, Sungmi." he replied, his voice gentle yet resolute. "However, I'm afraid I have an urgent matter to attend to, can't it wait till tomorrow?"
Sungmi's eyes widened in surprise, her expression faltering for a moment. She had likely expected a different response from Jongsuk. Still, she gathered herself and pressed on, her tone determined.
"That's fine Mr Lee, after class perhaps?"
"After class, we can continue this conversation, " he agreed.
With a final nod, Jongsuk retrieved his coat and keys, leaving the office with a sense of urgency still lingering.

"Right, this way Mr Lee," the police officer said as he opened the door to a room with a large table in the middle surrounded by black office wheeled chairs with the mesh backrests, you know, the ones you would get from IKEA. On the left-hand side of the room, there was a monitor mounted on the eggshell-painted wall. On the right-hand side of the room seems to be a multifunctional laser printer placed next to a metal framed shelving unit.
"He'll be arriving soon if you could wait in here for a moment. Would you like something to drink while you wait? Maybe some coffee or-?"
"No thanks, I'm fine" I gave him a small smile.
