The next morning John woke up, got ready, and went to work. On his way to the store he saw the tall, curly haired man, so he decided to follow him.

He followed him for two blocks until the man turned the corner. "This is silly" he said to himself. "Sherlock is..." He drew in a deep breath "Sherlock is dead" his voice cracked and he held back tears. He turned around and started walking to work again.

He thought about Sherlock and the first time they met. And then he remembered the last.... Sherlock had always helped him when he needed it, and when he died he didn't do anything to help Sherlock. He leaned against a building because he was afraid he would collapse. He gathered up all his strength and continued walking to work. The store was only two blocks away. All he had to do was turn the corner and cross the street. But little did John know how much his life would change in that small amount of time.

John was almost to the store when it started raining. Not just sprinkling though, down-pouring. Typical London. "Oh, bloody hell" he muttered as he pulled his jacket over his head, attempting to stay dry. When he reached the corner somebody said his name. He turned around. His face turned white. "Sherlock" he gasped.

"Sherlock" he choked "wh- h-how are you.... You died" Sherlock's face suddenly turned sad "I saw you jump, I took your pulse. There wasn't any!" John wasn't sure whether to be mad, happy, or just confused, but he was mostly relived. And confused of course, you would be, too.

Before Sherlock could say anything John wrapped his arms around him. He hugged him back, awkwardly. John was crying. He was trying not to but he couldn't help it. "Why did you jump?" John asked. Sherlock drew in a deep breath. "I had to" John frowned "What do you mean you had to? We were devastated!"

Sherlock sighed "Let's go home John, I'll tell you what happened"

When they got home, John went in first. He didn't want to bring Sherlock in without any warning. But what was he supposed to say?

"Mrs. Hudson" he shouted. Mrs Hudson walked upstairs. "Yes dear?" "Umm, I'm not really sure how to say this.." He saw she was carrying something "you might want to set that down. I've got some... Shocking news"
