"Where are you going, Dark?" I turned to face him. He looked embarrassed. "Well, you know the person I was talking to this morning?" I nodded. "That was the ambassador for another place. That meeting is coming soon and this time we go there, next year they come here, we switch." He finished up. Then he looked over my shoulder at the pink moustached guy behind me. "Will, I still haven't received any response to me asking if your going to come with me speaking of which."
"I'm thinking about it, geez Prince of Darkness. I do have a popping club to run you know. That's why we made you King instead of me."
Dark gave a your right Shrug. "True as that may be, your still the second in command here next to Sara now. You could come with us if you have the time." I was confused. "Did you say us? I had no idea I was going exactly." I raised an eyebrow at him and gave him a look. He could have at least told me beforehand if I was going to take a trip with him. That blindsided me a bit. "This is the first time I am hearing about it Dark." Dark again looked at Will like he was saying thanks a lot bro. He turned his attention back to me then. "I was going to ask you later, its coming up within a few weeks. I believed we had time to figure things out and see if you wished to go closer to the actual trip. I am sorry if it offended you."
"Your forgiven dude." I took a sip of my wine and stood up to watch the people below.
"Well you two, I gotta run a club instead of these business things." I heard the squeak of the chair as Will stood up. "But isn't a club a business?" I could practically hear the smirk on Dark's face as he said it. "Not the kind you do Donnie Darko, but fair enough." I heard footsteps as he went closer to the door. "I'll catch you later Sara, don't let him steal your soul or anything." Will said with a laugh. I laughed too. "I won't let him stomp on down and suck up my soul like Marceline's dad in Adventure Time, Will. Have fun."
"You too kiddo."
Will went down the stairs and it left me and Dark alone again. I watched the people below dancing, laser lights flashing in time with the music. I began tapping my foot in time with the music. A really catchy tune was playing, very high energy and infectious. I missed being down there and being a nobody in a way. Because if I went down there now, I was certain someone would notice me as the woman who was seen with the King. And all the rumors were going make sure I was not a nobody anymore. It was funny in a way. Before all this I had been a nobody and just wanted to be important in some way to someone. Now...I had that importance. And I was beginning to see things I couldn't do anymore that I'd done before. But also, all the importance felt weirdly natural to me. I just hoped I could prove I deserved it.
"What are you thinking about Sara?" A voice said in my ear, making me jump. I had been so deep in thought I hadn't heard Dark get up. "DUDE, WARN A WOMAN!" I exclaimed in my surprise while jumping back and clutching my chest. I glared at him. He was laughing hard and had his eyes closed. "I had to! You looked so deep in thought, it was too good to resist my dear!" He laughed again and went back over to pour himself a glass of wine. "Well, next time, warn someone! I could have had a freaking heart attack bro!" I calmed myself down and when back to staring out the window as I felt my heart slow in pace back to normal. "But really, what are you thinking about?" He asked softly.
"Choices."
"Choices?"
"Yeah." I replied with a sip of my drink while still looking out the window. "Just how they effect the future, how they change you, stuff like that you know? I think we all do sometimes at a point in our lives when life is changing." Dark Mmhmed behind me. "That is something I certainly know about." He meant to say it amused but I could hear disdain mixed within his voice. I didn't want to say anything that might offend him so I decided to stay quiet. "I am sure you do buddy."
