We all walked into Mrs.Robbins office with our brightest smiles on and eyes gleaming with hope. Meg printed out the fake permission slips. She wanted to put on a presentation for Mrs. Robbins, saying that it might work if we had every detail planned out.

We were there before her, so Megan started setting up by the big whiteboard in Mrs. Robbins office.

"I really hope this works," I whispered.

Meg took out a dry-erase pen and starting writing on the board. 'Our Adventure' is what she titled it. She drew our town and then she started drawing other places like New York, Florida, Tennessee, and Maine. She was drawing out a map of potential places we would visit on this little road trip. She grabbed a magnet and hung up the permission slips just as Mrs. Robbins walked in.

"Okay, what's going on?" She asked, sitting down at her desk with a cup of joe in her hand.

"Mrs. Robbins, we would all like to present you a plan on a road trip we would like to take," Megan started and Mrs. Robbins nodded for her to go on.

Carter took over, "So as you know, the reason why we are all here is because we have shitty lives," Mrs.Robbins glared at him, "Sorry for the curse word. But the 5 of us would like to run away. Well not really run away, just go on like a road trip for a week or so. We would take my car, which is very reliable and we all have enough money to stop at hotels and eat and for gas."

"And maybe even a souvenir for you," Peter interrupted.

"Yes a present for you Mrs. Robbins," Mel stepped in, "We all feel like crap about ourselves and our family. And you know the feeling where you just need too get away from everything, that's how we are feeling right now."

"So," Mrs. Robbins started, "You're asking me permission to go on a summer vacation?"

"Not really," I said, "We're kinda asking you if we could go on a vacation next week."

"During school?!"

"Yes, but but we really need this. And we would be back the week of graduation"

She laughed, "And all your parents are ok with this? I know we are here because of them but don't you think they would be worried if you ran away for a week? You can't miss that much school right now. You are graduating in a few weeks."

"That's why we have you," Megan said, "We already made fake permission slips to give to our parents to show them to pretend like we are going on a school field trip. But we would need you to change our absences to saying that we are here so we wont get our credits down."

"What you're asking of me could get me fired, you know?" She raised her voice a little, "But it's a good thing I'm quitting after this year."

"Wait you're quitting?" I asked.

"Wait," Carter said, "Does this mean you'll do it?"

She looked around at all of us, with hope in our eyes, "The only reason I stayed this long was because of you five. If it weren't for you, I would have quit a long time ago. But all of you came to me asking for help, and I couldn't just abandon you kids. So Carter, yes, that means I'll do it. But I expect you kids to call me everyday and give me an update on what you're doing and where you're at."

We all looked at each other, asking ourselves, is this real? Did she really just say yes? And in that instant we all jumped and scream and gathered in a big hug, "What are you doing?" I asked Mrs' Robbins, "Get in on this to."

She smiled and ran over to join the group hug.

And tomorrow, were leaving to our trip. This was the happiest I've been in a long time.
