Later on that day, it was night as Josephine was in bed reading a book as Elizabeth was in sitting in the rocking chair in Josephine's room when a maid put a fresh bedwarmer on the end of Josephine's bed."There you go, miss. It was a difficult day for you, I'm sure." The maid said as she made the bedwarmer comfortable for Josephine.
"I suspected Commodore Norrington would propose, but I must admit I wasn't entirely prepared for it." Elizabeth piped up.
"I can honestly say I was glad it didn't happen." Josephine admitted.
"I meant, you being threatened by that pirate. Sounds terrifying." The maid clarified, looking at Josephine.
"Oh." Elizabeth and Josephine simultaneously muttered as they glanced at each other.
"Yes, it was terrifying." Josephine mused, almost passively."But the Commodore proposed! Fancy that." The maid told Elizabeth which made Jo glance at her than went back to reading.
"That's a smart match, Miss, if it's not too bold to say." She added."It is a smart match." Elizabeth agreed, stopping her reading. "He's a fine, man. He's what any woman should dream of marrying." She added.
"Well, that Will Turner, he's a fine man, too." The maid suggested to Josephine, Elizabeth rose her brow in amusement.
"That is too bold." Josephine replied in a displeased tone as she looked up to the maid.
"Beggin' your pardon, miss. It was not my place." The maid apologized before walking out of her room and closing the door. Josephine grabbed the medallion from her neck and toyed with it.
"She's not wrong." Elizabeth mused, putting her book down.
"Elizabeth." Josephine sighed, giving her a look.
"What?" Elizabeth innocently shrugged with a smile. All amusement stopped when the wind felt different as it blew out the candle causing the girls to exchange weary looks.
It wasn't that long that they heard booming sounds that made the two girls jump from their spots. Elizabeth and Josephine rushed out of Josephine's room and went to the balcony to see the town was on fire from canons. A crash caught their attention; they looked to see pirates pushed the gate open and were coming for the house. Elizabeth grabbed Josephine's arm, turning around and rushing down the steps, they stopped in the middle of the staircase,
"Don't!" Josephine exclaimed but it was already too late the doorman had opened the door.
"Hello, chum." One of the pirates said before shooting him in the head causing both girls to scream out of fright. They barged into the house, another pirate looked up and saw them, "Up there!" He pointed out. Elizabeth and Josephine ran upstairs and entered the nearest room, Josephine locked it as hands grasped onto Elizabeth's arms causing her to cry out of fear which made Josephine snap her head. They relaxed once they saw it was the maid.
