{3rd Person POV}
Y/N got up from the table and went over to their food supply. 'Hmm. I guess I can just cook the fish in a pan with the green beans,' they thought to themselves.
"Yo! do you have any herbs or seasonings?" Y/N already knew what the answer was, but decided it was best to ask anyways.
"... salt."
"oh."
Though Y/N wasn't expecting much, they thought that they'd at least have pepper and maybe parsley or something. 'Guess I'll just have to work with it,' they thought.
They began cooking on the fireplace outside. They also managed to find a jar of olive oil to use, which they were grateful for considering there was no butter or anything else to use as oil. To be honest, Y/N was a pretty good cook! They were pretty much forced to learn to cook properly for themselves when they moved out onto their own for college. They may not be able to make a beef wellington (nor would they want to because they do not eat red meat), but they sure as hell can make a sick bowl of spaghetti. They usually tried to stick to a pescetarian diet because they hated the meat and dairy industry and felt bad for the animals back in their world.
After some time, Y/N headed back inside with two plates of food. They handed one to Leshy who was confused by the gesture. Then they grabbed cups for each of them and filled them with water. Finally, you sat down.
"I hope you like it! Sorry if it isn't anything too great. I don't have much to work with here," Y/N said with an awkward smile.
"You didn't have to make this for me, Y/N. I can go a long time without eating. You should save this for yourself the next time you are hungry." He began to slide the plate in their direction, but Y/N abruptly slammed their fist down on the opposite side.
"How dare you? I just spent so much time making this fine meal and you won't even try it? Where are your manners?" Y/N seemed utterly insulted by the fact that Leshy was not interested in eating the meal she cooked. He was a little taken back by their anger. In reality, he really wanted to. It looked great and smelled amazing, but he felt a little remorse for taking the food she worked on.
However, Y/N's glare managed to make him feel small and powerless like they would scold him on common etiquette for hours if he rejected it.
"...If you insist."
"I do insist! It'll be part of my pay for you letting me stay here. Now, eat it before it gets soggy and gross." Y/N sat back down and regained their composure. "BUT... You have to tell me if it's good and if there's anything I need to critique."
Before he could even respond, Y/N began eating, so he did as well.
~Timeskip to the end of dinner~
"Hmmm. Okay, it didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would. Maybe the bottom of the fish was a little charred. So whatcha think???" Y/N asked enthusiastically.
"It was very good, Y/N. I never make anything nice for myself so I appreciate the generosity. I have no critical input for it," he said. He was happy that he got to eat such a good meal, but he would never let Y/N know that.
Y/N leaped up and squealed with delight. It reminded Leshy of when a dog gets praised for doing a trick. They reached over and grabbed his plate and cup.
"I'll be back. I'm gonna go and clean this stuff outside." With that, Y/N disappeared past the door.
{Leshy's POV}
'...Cute,' he thought to himself, but immediately cleared the thought from his mind. 'I guess it won't be so bad having them around.' Y/N was initially an annoying hindrance to me, considering that I usually only deal with challengers. They appeared out of nowhere and threw a bit of a wrench my way, but it has only been a day and they've managed to help me out a lot. Their help and dedication have not gone unnoticed.
I remembered their makeshift bed last night was the flooring and an old flour sack. I decided to get up and go into my storeroom to look for some animal furs. There were only a few in there, but they'll make do.
I went back into the main room and set them up so there was one underneath, one on top, and one folded into a pillow shape. 'Looks good to me,' I thought to myself. I went back over to the table to clean up the rest of my stuff. 'It's getting late. They can just clean everything in the morning.'
Once I reached the door, it appears that they had not noticed my arrival.
{3rd Person POV}
"Y/N," Leshy said.
"AH!" Y/N jumped, not knowing that Leshy had come outside. They dropped the cup they were holding and it shattered. Leshy just sighed.
"Clean it up in the morning. Come in. It's nearing midnight and the wolves start lurking around here at this time," he said, only half of the statement being true; the wolves do lurk around these hours, but they wouldn't dare go near the cabin.
"Sorry about that. I'll make sure there are no shards left behind when I clean it tomorrow," they bowed their head in apology. Leshy was about to pat their head but hesitated. Instead, he just turned his back and went back inside. "Come on."
Y/N followed him in and noticed the pile of furs.
"You will sleep here. It should be comfortable enough. If it isn't, deal with it. It's all I've got for you." Leshy grabbed a book and candle from the table and was about to make his way to his room. When he turned back around, Y/N was already sitting in their bed with one fur draped over their head and shoulders. They appeared very happy and comfy.
"Thank you Mister Leshy! This is more than I could've asked for," they snuggled themselves into their fur a bit more. "Goodnight! Sleep Well!"
"You as well, Y/N." He blew out the candle and disappeared into his back room.
