Chapter Eight

After trying to calm Malia down, Scott, Stiles, Deaton, and Sheriff Stilinski eventually came which set her off again. Mrs Martin had left the basement, scared and confused. She didn't even look at us and practically ran out, which I don't blame her.

Malia and I were both sitting on the ground, I was trying to get Malia to recite to me what happened to her and none of it made complete sense to me but honestly, I don't see why it couldn't be a possibility. It's beacon hills for God's sake.

"It wasn't me." I and Malia are now turning from hovering over Tracy's body, turning toward the boys.

"What the hell happened to her?" Sheriff Stilinski asked.

"There were these people... They had masks." Malia tried to describe to the boys. "Um, there... There were three of them. I think there were three of them."

"What... What are you talking about?" Stiles asked. "Addy, did you see this?"

"No." I admitted. "I came just after they left."

"They were strong, Stiles. They had a weapon. Stiles, I didn't do this." Malia promised.

"Okay..."

"She's not changing back." Deaton informed us. "We're gona need to get her out of here."

"What, hey. Absolutely not." Sheriff Stilinski denied which surprised me. "This is a crime scene. We call the coroner."

"I think the coroner might be very confused by this girl's severed reptilian tail." Deaton looked up at Sheriff Stilinski.

"I don't care."

"You should," Deaton advised. "Unless you're prepared to hold a press conference announcing the presence of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills."

"Dad, he's right," Stiles said.

"Maybe at the clinic, we can figure out how to change her back, then call the coroner?" Scott suggested.

"There's a line... there is a line that we have to draw." Sheriff Stilinski spoke.

"Dad, you've already crossed it. More than once." Stiles reminded him.

"Sheriff, please." Deaton pleads. "Let me help. I've dealt with things like this before."

"Just do it fast." Sheriff Stilinski grits. I smiled. I knew he wasn't happy about it, but at least he's allowing us this. Deaton and Scott both lifted Tracy up and we brought her to the clinic.

Stiles, Kira, Athena, Theo, Malia and I wait for Liam and Scott to come and wait outside the patient room for Lydia while she's getting surgery.

"How bad is it?" Stiles asked. Melissa had gone to check up on Lydia.

"Could've been worse," Melissa spoke. "Theo, nice going on that tourniquet. You probably saved her life. All right. She's about to go into surgery. So it's gonna be a while. Any other supernatural details that I need to know about or do we just stitch her up and hope for the best?"

"It was the tail," Kira informed.

"Yeah, Tracy cut her with the tail, if that makes a difference," Scott added on.

"Okay." Melissa nodded before going back to Lydia.

"But it wasn't just Tracy," Malia said. "There were the others." She looks at Stiles. "The guys in the mask."

No one says anything. I leant closer to Stiles and he grabs ahold of my hand as I leant on his shoulder. I hope Lydia gets through this.

Now, I'm sitting in Stiles' bedroom watching him write out on his board while I'm waiting for him to go to sleep. He writes the word, Tracy Stewart. And there are other few things like The Dessert Wolf which is supposedly Malia's mother.

I stand up and walked over to Stiles. He eyes me softly. "I miss my parents," I spoke. Which I did. I missed Derek and my mother. I know they're probably having a wonderful break from the Supernatural, but I still miss them. They deserve to just be with each other.

"I know you do." Stiles spoke gently, before leaning in and giving me a sweet, loving kiss. I looked over in the corner of Stiles' room. I pulled away from Stiles' kiss and as he frowns, he asks. "Addison?"

There was Allison, standing in the corner of his room, wearing a white dress and looking pale as ever. She naturally did look pale, but this was something else. She was just watching us with a small smile on her face. She looked really proud.

"Allison's here," I spoke, eyeing the corner of the room. I felt my lips tremble and my eyes tear. I hadn't thought of Allison in so long, I felt bad.

"I thought you stopped seeing her," Stiles told me, turning to the corner of the room. I knew he couldn't see her.

"Me too."

"What's she doing?" Stiles asked.

"Just... Standing." I answred, biting my lower lip. "I miss her most of all." Stiles cups my hands, pulling me close to him. He kissed my forehead, telling me everything's going to be alright.

"If 99.9% of our DNA sequence is the same as other humans, what could account for the missing 0.1$ difference?" Mrs Finch asked us as it was the next day for school. I glanced at my empty seat, feeling worried for Lydia. But, Parrish is there guarding her which makes me feel a little better. "Theo?"

"Um, nucleotides," Theo answered.

"That's right." Mrs Finch said. "Yes, Kira?"

"Can there be more than one species in the same DNA?" Kira asked.

"No, but there can be multiple sets of DNA in the same individual." Mrs Finch answered. "We call that a Chimera. Does anyone know where that term comes from?"

"Sydney?" I looked up from my papers and looked behind me, Sydney was sitting there.

"Greek mythology. It's a lion with a goat coming out of its back." Sydney explained. "And a tail that ends in the head of a snake."

"That's right Sydney, do you want to read us the full Wikipedia entry off your phone?" Mrs Finch raised an eyebrow and I turned back around. "But that does get us into the next topic of mutation. As you know from the reading, DNA is a fragile molecule. Isn't it, Scott? Or did you miss last night assigned reading?"

"Kind of." Scott mumbled.

"Kind of or yes?" Mrs Finsh cocked her head.

"Mostly yes." Scott somewhat admitted.

"Well then, thank you for another helpful transition in the topic." Mrs Finch walked up to the front of her desk and held up papers. "Drop forms. All those now acutely aware they do not belong in this class, you should fill one out." She slaps a few on people's desks. "The rest will be on my desk."

Even I've been thinking about dropping out of this class. I don't think I'm smart enough. I mean last year I just past Math, but I had to go to a summer school. Sure, everything's been great with Stiles' and Lydia's help but with more Supernatural things kicking up I'm not sure I'll be able to juggle it all.

The class was dismissed and I found myself walking over to the desk and picking up the form. "Addison? You're one of my best students." Mrs Finch tells me.

"You won't be saying that in a few months," I tell her honestly. "I have a lot to juggle right now. Trust me, if I had a choice, I would put my studies first."

"Then why don't you?" Mrs Finch challenged and I bite my lower lip. I walked off, not saying anything, feeling embarrassed as I took the drop-out slip.
