Just a Crush

You had little to no rest last night, your thoughts were overwhelmed by Joe. His scent, his smile, even the way he looked at you.

The name rung through your head a countless amount of times. Trying to push the feeling back only made it grow wider, today was a weekend so Beau had no school today.

"I'm gonna head out!" You called out, shutting the front door before letting him respond. Standing outside your front door had been Joe, he was holding a bouquet of tulips.

"Joe? What are you doing outside my door?" You asked, glancing down at the flowers. "Ah, I just wanted to say I had a nice time last night. You left in such a hurry." He replied, holding them out for you.

Cautiously grabbing them,  you couldn't help but feel your heart pound at this friendly gesture. "They're lovely." You said, watching his features brighten, as if he'd been waiting for your approval.

"Where were you headed?" He asked, "Ah, I was actually gonna come see you." You sheepishly admitted. "Would you like to come inside?" You continued, unlocking your door.

"Got any coffee?" He teased, you rolled your eyes and opened the door. "You can sit anywhere." You said, filling up a vase and placing the tulips in them.

"Cream and sugar?" You asked, he shook his head in response. Silently cringing at his preference you made him a cup anyways. Beau walked out and sneered at the sight.

"Be careful with the things my sister might do." He glared at Joe before walking back inside of his room. "Don't mind him..." You sighed. "I get it, sibling drama." He seemed so calm and collected, you were kind of envious even if it was just a well kept facade.

"It runs much deeper than that unfortunately." You handed him the cup and sat beside him. "Why doesn't he live with your parents if you don't mind me asking?" He asked, you could feel the genuine concern in his tone. But it was still a bit too personal.

"I'd rather not talk about it." The question felt like a thousand weights on your shoulders. "I was an orphan." He admitted, it felt like he trusted you. Yet you had not known each other for that long at all.

"That must've been rough." You replied softly, sliding a hand on top of his. He slightly flinched before relaxing himself at the sight of your hand above his. "It was." He admitted.

It had gotten late surprisingly fast, you and Joe had been talking for longer than it felt. "It's gotten pretty late, if you'd like you can stay over." You smiled, heart pounding as you waited for his response.

"I'd love to." He smiled back, you felt a warm heat on your cheeks. "Okay my room is over here..."
